Suggest a lekker camping spot close to CT
« on: November 19, 2013, 10:38:36 am »
A mate is having a birthday bash and he wants to go camping, he has suggested Beaverlac but last time I was there is was kark.

I am looking for a really nice camping spot

Green lawns
Trees
Electricity
River to swim in
Good facilities for the ladies.

The problem is we don't necessarily want to go all the way into the Cederberg.. is there anything a bit closer

Who has been where and had a good experience.

this past weekend when it was hailing & pissing with rain, we spent one of the best camping weekends ever at  this place:

www.kaleomanor.co.za

It's 30kms outside of Ceres & the reason for the pleasure during the pissing rain was that each site has its own little hut that offers kitchen, built in braai, lights, power & bathroom.
sites 9 & 10 will also offer a bit more shade than the rest.

Otherwise, go to Waterval Laatson in Porterville. That is where we camped for Riebeeker's birthday in February. And you can pick up your meat from Vaalbaas in Gouda.

and there is allways our favourite spot, site number 12 @ The Baths, Citrusdal. 200kms from Cape Town.

Oh, this past weekend it worked out at R 75 pppn. Not sure if it's billed per person, or if it's R 300 for the site.

another place to seriousely consider is Bonamanzi Adventures, just outside Worcester. They host a lot of river rafting/rowing groups.

They don't have camping (as far as I can remember), but they have a dormitory room for about 18 people, and a whole boma area where these parties can be held. They can also cater if needed. Oldschoolbiker got married there, and they did a fantastic deal.

A mate of mine owns it , I have been before and very lekker.
I envy every man that has not been to Africa, for he has so much to look forward too.
