SANRAL BROUGHT TO TASK BY THE ASA FOR MISLEADING RADIO ADS

The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) has found that claims made in an E-toll radio commercial are speculative and based on unstated assumptions. According to the ASA ruling, the advert in question features two men having a conversation about toll fees. At one point a character called Stanley tells his friend, “Because I can get to and from pick-ups and drop-offs quicker with the new freeways, I could take on more customers and make 20% more per month.” A consumer questioned the accuracy of 20% statistic, saying that it was without foundation. The invoices show three photos(Front close-up, rear close-up, overhead front) of only one transaction and not all the transactions on the invoice. I am sending a request for all photographic evidence for every transaction on the invoice to their private bag In centurion.

A criminal record for not paying an account?? Its the first I hear of this, if I dont pay for my car, I am not a criminal? Thought I would just be blacklisted

More bullying and scare tactics i suspect. In any case they would still have to take you to court and the courts must first find you guilty before you get a criminal record. They cant just deem you a criminal.

So why do some people get pictures and others not ?
I received my 1st invoice in my postbox yesterday.
Time covered from 03 - 19 Dec 2013. My bike ran up
an account of R120  but the "discounted" rate is R73.
It was itemised in terms of time, highway , and gantry names.

This is what it should look like, they only provide a close up rear, over head and close up front but only of one transaction. I want photographic evidence of every single transaction and then I will still give them the  :middlefinger:

I got some invoices but not one had any photo evidence.

Not even one.
I will be sending them back asking for proof of vehicle.

I got some invoices yesterday, also none had any photo evidence ...
Call Centre insist that I need to "create VPC account" on their website to view images - this requires MANDATORY info such as Vehicle Licence Number, RSA ID No, Cell phone or Email address - guess it's not gonna happen!!

More interesting was the actual documentation that I received via snail-mail:
  • Transaction Report & Invoice for 03 Dec 2013 - vehicle 1
  • Transaction Report & Invoice for 04-06 Dec 2013 - vehicle 2
  • Statement of Account for 03-06 Dec 2013 - vehicles 1 & 2

Not too alarming, except that I received 4 copies of each of the above ... that's 12 individual letters posted to my home address!!!

Dunno how SCAMRAL expect to make any profit at this rate of inefficiency ....  :o
