Shosholoza Meyl - Bike Transport
« on: November 21, 2013, 11:20:02 am »
Maybe someone out there knows the answer.

We have often travelled with the Shosholoza Meyl and then did a bike trip back; we did JHB-Eastlondon, asked that they let us of in Queenstwon, Did JHB to Cape Town, asked that they let us of in Worcester, did JHB-PE, went all the way there.

The train tickets is not expensive but transport for the bikes is expensive.  We want to down to Cape Town but take bikes and people of in Beaufort West, anyone know if you can just pay for the freight to Beuforwets.

I will try and get this information from Shosholoza Meyl, not and easy process.  and if know one knows, will post the findings.

it is still my best way of biking, over night train down into the Cape and ride the area and back to JHB!

they only offload at final destination. price is same for any route. jhb-cp, jhb-durbs, jhb-pe....all same price...if u put your bike as a below 500cc the price is cheaper. i put my bike on in jozi and flew to,CT...then offliaded her there and rode all thw way back. its a great trip.
ps. there is a thread with all the info already here on wd.

If you want cheaper rates say that your bike is under 400cc. It is less than half the price
