Looks like it is dusted.

let's hope so..... I don't trust these fuckers lately - high density roads should be fuel levy and low density should be tolled in broad terms

I just noticed yesterday evening between Midrand & Centurion that all the e-toll prices on the signboards before each gantry have been covered with black plastic ....

Does this mean that:
1. No charge while no price is displayed?
2. E-toll price increase imminent?
3. E-toll about to implode?

What say the wise mens?
Anyone else noticed this phenomenon on other routes?

Bundu asked, you get :peepwall:

;D I did a quick calculation.... I'll be saving about 6% more than previously  :thumleft:

I was hoping for a bigger hike, but I guess the paying idjits will not be able to afford that  :snorting:

Maybe time to take to Defcon 5

that means nothing ::)

Who saw The Star's main headline this morning?

After how many days, they latch on to this "win" and basically spin a story that we're all going to be taken to court and lose.

Reporters should work harder to keep the little credibility they still have left.  This kind of false reporting makes me angry!     :dousing:

I see more and more media coming up with this shit - They believe shock tactics sell papers - it's like 'click-baiting' online  ::)

then again, maybe sanral is paying them to publish this BS  :sip:

E-mail I received as an OUTA member:

There is no court judgement victory for SANRAL

Dear Jurie Prinsloo

If you have seen or heard of SANRAL’s claim of a victory in the e-toll fight this week you might be concerned with how this affects you and OUTA’s fight against e-Tolls. Please read the important information and facts below. We encourage you to forward this onto all your friends and colleagues to empower them with the facts.

The important facts which everyone needs to know:-

THERE WAS NO COURT CASE
This was a default judgment given as a result of someone not responding to a summons. The matter was not heard in court. There was no fight or any legal defence presented on the matter. No judge has provided a ruling in this case. It was merely an administrative process by the registrar in the court signing approval of a default judgment, because nor counter argument by the person concerned was presented.

DEFAULT JUDGEMENTS ARE NOT PRECEDENT SETTING
Sanral claims this is a precedent-setting judgment. IT IS NOT. The merits of the case still need to be heard in court.

THE STATUS OF OUTA’s E-TOLL TEST CASE
Our legal team has demanded the necessary documents from SANRAL which need to be presented to the courts. Once we have the documents, the case to prove the unlawfulness of the e-toll decision is able to proceed. OUTA is committed to fighting this case, regardless of SANRAL’s occasional misleading claims of victory.

SANRAL HAVE MADE THESE CLAIMS BEFORE
We remind the public of a false claim made by SANRAL in September 2015 against a Dr. Stoyan Stoychev, who fitted false number plates to evade fines and e-toll payment. In that case, SANRAL claimed a court case victory in favour of an e-toll case, when in fact, it was not. It was a complete farce and once again they are doing the same thing.

HEADLINES AND PROPAGANDA ARE NOT REALITY
Please do not panic when reading false statements and headlines. The reality is that a real case will have to be heard at some stage. Until then, SANRAL can and will use every tactic to claim hollow victories. This is the nature of this particular State Owned Entity with a reputation for misleading the public and lying to the media with false claims of e-tag uptakes in the past.

ALL OUTA SUPPORTERS ARE PROTECTED BY OUTA’s e-TOLL DEFENCE UMBRELLA
If you are a contributing supporter of OUTA and you receive a summons, simply notify us and we will handle the rest for you. If you are not a supporter, we have guidelines on our website to direct you how to handle a summons. Whatever you do, please do not ignore a summons.

Judging by SANRAL’s desperate conduct, there appears to be no sanity prevailing on this irrational, inefficient and unlawful scheme. As such, we will continue to fight and defend the rights of citizens, to ensure that Government and its State Owned Entities conduct themselves within the law and in the best interests of the public.

I saw The Star's main headline article this morning is of OUTA's view of the default judgement.

The End of E-Tolls is Nigh

There is no doubt that Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s comments during his recent State of the Province address, signals his renewed interest in seeing the end of e-tolls. This has no doubt provided a massive boost to OUTA’s work on its founding cause, which is to see the cancellation of the e-toll scheme.

While we are aware that Premier Makhura has made these statements before, this time around he must surely have the willing ear of the new President. We are very aware that the ANC does not need the e-toll noose hanging around its neck in the 2019 elections.

With e-toll compliance levels at an all time low (around 1-in-4) after four years of operation, the picture becomes clearer that the e-tolls scheme has failed dismally and that no amount of threats or coercive tactics will persuade the public to settle their outstanding debt to SANRAL, which now stands close to R11 billion.

We believe this defunct scheme does not have much longer to go, before the authorities decide to pull the plug. The only people getting rich on this scheme are a bunch of lawyers who are being paid to send out thousands of summonses each week to defiant motorists, along with the Kapsch TrafficCom people who administer the expensive collection scheme.

The people who are keeping the e-toll scheme on its life-support system are believed to be the few key account holders (mainly corporate entities and car rental companies), who feed just enough oxygen into scheme to keep it limping along. If they were to join the ranks of the other 75% of people who refuse to pay, the authorities would have no option but to switch it off and engage with society to find the solution to pay for the freeway upgrade. We believe it is time that Corporate SA stood up are realised their need to denounce the defunct, irrational, inefficient and costly e-toll scheme

OUTA will continue to work hard to defend the public’s rights, to have the scheme laid to rest, once and for all.
