Me, I'm happy looking like Robocop and getting the smirkey comments from the bare skin lunatics riding in flip-flops.

Or like the old "funny" guy at a local gunshop: "Hey, are yous from ve souf pole or what, hey?!"

ATGATT has saved me before, and it will do so again.

Same here... my SO's sister calls us Robocop and Robogirl... and we have "tested" the gear as well. Impressive to crawl out from under the bike... dust yourself off and say "Wow, the shit worked!" :-)
Just a pity clutch levers do not take kindly to having a bike's weight land on em...

Followed him to his house gave him a piece of my mind amongst others "Someday you will kill yourself on that bike" which he did a week later, smashed into the narrow guage train.  I vowed never to place such an omen on someone ever again.  If someone wants to take the risk without ATGATT - it is their problem.

Ooops... Makes you think.  :o

.................. smashed into the narrow guage train. ..............

I remember this too. friends called to see if i would answer the phone that morning. They had passed the scene, saw a yellow bike moer toe and thought 'hope that ain't grunt'

it's scary the way some okes jaag. they are looking for trouble and unfortunately some find it.

We don't wish it upon no one but it is hard not to think that certain behaviour will end up in tragedy one day.

Yesterday on the snot wet road I was being very very carefull, being just back on the bike after breaking my ankle last year, so I'm in ATGATT (ja nou boetse ok gekoop) and as I say I'm driving oh so carefully in the 4:30 traffic. A roadbike built for serious speed comes past me, not so carefull but still wide awake to the dangers around him. I note he's also in ATGATT.
And then, lane splitting at about 70K's on a 125 something, the skool laaitie with his mate on the back comes zipping past us, swerving between cars and going hell for leather. I was bemused to even see the guy on the speed bike shake his head.

Great news, my book 'Sniffer' has seen the light of day on Amazon Kindle!

After my little mishappie on the weekend, all I can say is FULL ATTGAT rules...just need to upgrade that jean...soon...

Seriously, I came off at 80km/h rolled my ass off and was on my feet before Zonkie stalled. Afterwards I thought "Lets check what else got farked in this farkup" - sum total? One bruised foot (the front half was bent down on the broken Touratech left footpeg) although I can walk pretty normal, one small little nick (edged stone, must be) on my left elbow. Both knees a little tender (that's what I got for wearing a normal jean) but I CAN WALK!

I've seen a few guys since Saturday without ATTGAT, one in Malmesbury in front of the shop where I bought water on the way home from Redelinghuys. I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and marched him over to the bakkie with my boney on - still fresh from the smack. Showed him the boney, my gear and myself and asked him what he thinks he should wear. He had to admit it's not a bad idea to wear ATTGAT. Stupid laaitie. Then again I was twice his size, pissed of and tired and sore and he must have been shit scared. I hope I got through to him.

Remember the Darwin Awards - stupidity rids the earth from doppies >:D

Simple knee guards will be the cheapest protection you can invest in. I always fit my knee guards, even to the cafe down the road.  Next is elbow guards. I have to get some, even under the jacket.

Welsh is one who always have his elbow guards underneath his riding jacket.

I'm shite scared of the joints when going down.

Good idea. 14 years of rugby left a few marks/scars. I saw Yellowfever had knee gaurds on this weekend. After the fall I wanted to mug him and "liberate" his knee guards. The jacket covers the rest. Of course decent gloves and boots helps too.

Maybe a cricket box for the only unprotected pieces left ;D Sorry, being silly.

Yellowfever, where did you get them knee jobbies and do they fit several X's?

The guards additional to other riding gear.

Me also suffer the rugby maladies in the joints. Maybe that's the reason I'm so scared of the joints hitting the surface.?

Oud en getroud. If I look and walk like a Michelin mannetjie because of  the gear when riding, so be it.

Quoting a mate of mine, if you going to ride without full Kit make sure you at least wear a decent pair of boots and gloves, so that if you lucky enought to survive and land up in hospital you will still be able to walk to the pisser and be able to hold it yourself.

Head then Legs usually get nailed in a off then other parts follow but the sequence should NOT put one off from getting full ATGATT... I paid for not getting kneeguards. :-(
