Ian sees a sign saying Mountain View. So now we have to cruise up there.

Now Ian chatted to some Telkom guys who told that two lions had escaped from the game reserve and are in the facility.
So what, we would go up the road anyway as we are Bikers and we ain't bang ous. I tell Ian hey bud... don't worry the noise from our bikes will scare them away. We get about 5km's in and come up to an electric fence, no mountain view insight, turn around
and as I take a photo Ian is busy checking around and says there's movement in the grass on our left side. We did not go to investigate the movement as I was still not feeling so lekker from those lekker cold ones I had, and I didn't scheme that I should go and chat to them and tell them that the game rangers are looking for them. I mean hey they probably just want some privacy.
Instead we decide to high tailed it outta there with a stink spoed so they can have their privacy.  Ok, Ok maybe we were just a little bit bang.

Back on the road again about 30km's up we come across this spectacular sight.

Breath taking aint it, a marsh in the middle of no where, and of course we have to take a few pics as it allows me to catch a quick smoke and to concentrate if I should go back and tell those lions to go back to the game reserve as other ous also want to check them out. Nah, decide it aint my business.

Then its of again and we get the sign that tunes us we must gooi a left to Fraserburg.

Some easy sand roads but you can't go fast as then you can't check out the lekker scenery.
Okay you can go fast only if you don't want to check out the scenery.

Some awesome scenery. See I told you ous if we was cruising moerse fast we would have missed this lekker place, and then I couldn't of shown you ous these lekker pics.

Check this old a banded house. I've always been fascinated with them cause I try to scheme what they "jagged" on and how they lived. This possie checks so peaceful and calm that I sommer envy the people that used to stay there and scheme to myself why did they leave.

And then off we go.

We stop for a quick lunch in Frazerburg, was feeling very thirsty, but the bloody Bottle Store was closed, this at 13h00. No man some times life is just not fair, so we had to settle for a coke and a toasted sarmie and then off to Sutherland.

We decided to have a quick look at these big telescopic things that can check out other planets, but seeing that it was day time I sommer knew that these ous would not show us any stars or such, so we take a few pics any way, just to show you ous that we were there.

They have big ones

And small ones, these ones most probably check out the stars which are a lot closer.

Then once again it's off to Sutherland

Stay over at Kombrakind Guest House. Our usual stop over when we in that area. This time only to discover the owners got a mooi daughter.

Owners Daughter. Juanita, mmm lovely lady, pity she married, got to behave myself.
We go and take a trip around the town, end up at the hotel and have a few lekker cold ones and then we off to the local restaurant to fill up our stomachs with a lekker lamb shank, oh you guessed it and another cold one or two. Then we off to go check out the stars with even smaller telescope things. Always cool to see the other planets out there. Then back to the house and to catch some zzz's

Up early, have a good breakfast and of course no, no not cold ones, but I had to thank Juanita for her hospitality and then we fill up the bikes and head off on the road to Tankwa.

Some lekker dirt roads to ride, you can even do it one handed.

Get to the turn off to Ouberg Pass not realizing what awaits us further along and how it would test our riding ability.

The road leading to the pass. They were even considerate enough to send a grader ahead to scrap the road for us, someone must have told them we were coming.

Rain clouds are busy catching up to us, but seen that these guys went to so much trouble to make this road so nice for us to ride on, we decide we can't disappoint them, so we take a nice ride to the top of the pass.

Only to find this.

Still can't figure out why they didn't fix this section up for us as well, maybe we just got there to early ad they didn't have the time yet. These guys should genuinely sit down and make better arrangements. ( Not happy with them) should have planned better.
Well as I've said before, we are Bikers and we ain't bang ous
Decide that seems that these guys didn't do there work properly and we not lus to ride back on that lekker road that they fixed up for us, that we will maar go down the pass. That will teach them.
Off Ian goes and me following.

Dam rain starts to fall ever so gently and then I start worrying as the bloody rains gonna fall and my bikes gonna get wet and dirty. To late now as we already started the descent.

On the way down the first sections a bit rough, but still okay with a few rocks here and there.
Bloody things are skitting the hell out of me, not cool as head is still not lekker from cold ones.

We are taking it easy as its a bit slippery in places that haven't got rocks, the bloody rain has decided to drizzle. (Can picture my bike getting all dirty.)
Dam but this is lekker riding and I mentally thank the guys for not being on time to fix up this road for us.

I even take some photos.

Some of the road behind me, could not twist around as the side is still a wee bit sore.
So I take it in my mirror, cool shot hey.

In front it looks like this

Ian coming along after negotiating a bad section, we en counted a lot of them.
It looks as if Ian is enjoying himself "stukkend".

Ian catches up and goes past on the left track,

I'm hugging the right track, it's a wee bit further away from the side of a moerse drop off, so I feel stukkend better. Little knowing it would bite me on the ass.
Next thing I feel my front wheel slipping to the right, check down only to see it caught a loose piece of shale, now I know if you open up a bit and gooi your rear wheel out to the right a bit it should rectify the problem, NO LUCK. She also spins out and I find myself in a ditch with a moerse big rock in front of me. Now I know these At's are tough but there's no way we gonna climb over that rock. So all I could do was hit brakes and stop, which lucky enough we did. No need to explain what happens next.
The pictures tell all.

My bike taking a rest.

The rock

Lucky no damage to me or the bike. Well this is what it's all about. Had a good laugh at my own expense.
Scary if you actually think about what could have happened.

Well after I fell I jumped up and saw that Ian was almost at a corner in the road, luckily at that moment Ian looked back in his mirror to see this mad ou jumping up and down and waving his arms like crazy. Oh yes and shouting. (Still don't know why I was shouting.)

Ian in the distance, he stops and has to put a rock by his back wheel to stop his bike from siding down the hill. Starts the long journey back to help me. Wonder what went through his mind at that stage. (Bloody idiot, I hope the bikes okay, or something in that sense.)

Notice the nice road ahead.

Just came down this section

We get the bike out of the ditch and onto her wheels. A dented side protector and a few roasties is the only damage.
Dam these At's are tough.

Ian hops on the bloody bike and rides about 60m's down the road, hops off and leaves me to walk to the bike.
Bloody nice buddy. He, he. So on the bikes and off we go once again.

Dam that was scary but fun, those rocky sections took some doing...........Believe me

The road the other side of the pass was a breeze, but one could still see the flood damage every where.

But hell it's still a good cruise. I think for some reason we were lucky to miss the flood.

We en counted a few more drifts along the way.

They were easy to cross " I think. "

And then I saw some beef tjops lying around waiting just for me, made me honger again. (He, he no skaap tjops)

And then to find that we missed our turn to Tankwa.

Ian having a good look where he f... up. LOL don't scheme he was to chuffed with himself.

Well new plans are made and off we go towards Matjiesfontein.

We stop at Lainsburg to fill up the bikes and us at the Steers, Mmmm didn't get those beef tjops but had a hamburger instead, at least got some of that beef in me. And of course Ian's customary sweet tooth had to be taken care of. Then its on the road again.

Some mooi scenery on route

Take this gravel road to Rooiberg towards our overnight stop at Matjiesvlei just outside of Calitzdorp. An easy little road to ride reaching up to 130km's on it but still couldn't catch Ian. He was riding moerse fast.

And it has some beautiful scenery on it. Lucky I stopped to have a smoke or else I would have missed this lekker scenery.
Ian stopped to take photos and I flew past him, like a bat out of hell and just left him standing in my dust. That will teach him he, he. Get to the split in the road and wait for Ian to arrive hope he hasn't fallen. He, he, he.

Ian rocks up and we have a breather, okay a smoke break and we discuss what were gonna do as we still have plenty of day light ahead of us and the next stop is not so far ahead. Now I had googled the road to Gamkakloof dam cottages and it looked like an interesting road to ride as it runs on the side of the mountain with some nice views.  We decide to go for it and we may even change our plans and sleep there.

The road. Breath taking and a nice ride towards the dam, some steep grades up and down, well worth the ride and there's also some dam nice scenery as well

The scenery.
Then we get to the dam and it's a major disappointment, so are the cottages.
The dam is half "leeg" or maybe half full. You guys work that one out.

This section of the dam still looked good but as you got to the cottage section both dam and cottages (major) disappointment.
Sorry no photos of the cottages. We turn around and start back where we came from.

As I said its one hellave lekker road to ride, lots of corners and breath taking views. So I stopped to take a few pics especially of the slopes as my son doesn't dig them "he's got a hoogte vrees." Ian rides on, whilst taking his pics I hear a moerse rumbling sound, first thought it was my stomach telling me that it's hungry again, but then schemed to myself, hey my stomach doesn't make that big a noise, so I check around but can't see anything that could have caused that groot noise. Oh well so be it.

Start the bike and as I go around the corner I see what caused the noise, a bloody big rock decided to fall off the side of the mountain and come to rest in the road. Now I know what that noise was, see I knew it wasn't my stomach. It had basically fallen down between the two of us. Would have missed it if I hadn't stopped to take a photo or two. Just goes to show how lucky one can be. Oh !! and to watch out for falling rocks.

Any way on the road again to Matjiesvlei and we ride through another mooi pass.
Seweweeks Pass

Ian riding away from me again, getting the feeling he doesn't like me..."Ek het  n binneste."

The road running through the mountains, making me feel like a bloody ant.

Get our turn off to Matjiesfontein guest House and cruise on another lekker dirt road down the side of the mountain to get there.

Along comes Ian, dam the ou look relaxed on that Yammie. Check out his riding skills , his (sommer) sitting down.

Our stay has been reached.

The place in the middle of nowhere, but still close to civilization.

A place off tranquillity, no electricity, no noise, just a great view.
Ooops no food and we are stukkend hungry again. All we have is a tin of spaghetti and meatballs, some biltong and two buns, now I know in my infinite wisdom that this ain't gonna fill us up. Town is about 15kms away and neither one of us is "lis" to ride to it.  So I check out the Auntie and I schemes to my self that maybe she will help us in our time of need.
So I gooi on the charm and tune how lekker this place is with all the mooi uit sigs and how lekker we've been cruising around and all that other "goetes" as well, and that we came  in from the far side of town and that we wanted to really get here to check out this mooi possie that we did not have time to go to the town to buy some meat to Braai and stuff to go with it. and like cant she organize us a Braai Pack or some tjops or some thing as I'm so stukkend honger that I could eat half a buffalo calf, and of course we we would buy it from her. To our rescue, she says she would put some thing together for us as she cant see us going honger as we look like such nice ous.

Dam she did:6 Moerse big skaap tjops,a groot stuk wors, 4 tomatoe /onion/ cheese sarmies and potato salad, and to top it all she charged us almost nothing for it. Now I'm a big eater and I couldn't eat it all even with Ian's help.

Kit packed off and now it's time to rest. Doesn't Ian look all relaxed?

Well Ian looked a bit moeg, so I got the braai going and we had a lekker graze. Lucky I had three cold ones left let Ian have one and I had the other two. Then it was tequila on the rocks.

So I told you we couldn't finish every thing.

A nice skaap tjop and sarmie with potato salad for breakfast.

Take a last photo of the scenery.

Off we go.

We find a road which goes through Groenfontein to Kuilsrivier which turned out to be awesome.

Some cool scenery around us.

It even has this pub on it, but as it's still early 09h00 we go past. Okay can just picture your faces and thoughts. Really we did really go past.

Some old buildings on the road, okay next to it.

And some more nice scenery to view

Check out this photo of Ian's bike and scenery......Totally awesome.
This pic belongs in a magazine, or even better on the front cover.

We cross a few drifts along the road

And some lekker open stretches

Ian stops at this intersection and has to wait for me as I'm fafing around on the road taking pics

Whilst he was waiting for me he hears a strange sounding AT coming up the road. He, He it wasn't me but a bunch of riders on a cruise. We enjoy a bit of conversation.

Some WD members in the pack.
Well all good things must come to an end, say our goodbyes and off we go.

Another nice dirt road.

Reach the Swart Berg Pass with no incidents
Take a cruise up

And up

And up

And up

And up

And were all the way up (Yippie)

And down we go

We stop and have a sarmie and coke at this pad staal almost at the bottom. Tummies all nice and cared for.
The hell here we come: Not knowing what the Gods had planned for us.

THE SIGNS

The signs of DOOM! Will you or won't you ride this road?
Of course we will we not bang ous, we are tough ous, we are WD, we are Bikers.

The nice dry roads at the start of the section.

Was a bit lousy but then we discovered this.

Check out all this lekker road to ride, nice squigglies, steep inclines, steep declines, oh what the hell "he, he"  it's a moerse lekker road to ride, a whole 48km's of it. Of course it requires the most needed smoke break half way.

We even had time to admire the Fauna and flora.

Crossed a few drifts. Ha !! This one came back to "HAUNT" us.
We almost lost Ian's bike in this drift on the way back. Blooooody drift.

And there it is the Hell itself.

Into the descent Ian does go.

Down

Down

Down

Down. WAIT he has made it. Now its my turn, the anticipation has got me, the sweat starts to run, the hands are clammy, nerves are buggered, hand are shaking, legs turn to jelly, tummies in a knot.......
Okay, okaaay  just talking kak so down I go into the drop to get into The Hell. (he, he)

We have made it. See sign
