E-Toll Income _ What do you make of this?
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:04:11 am »
What do you make of this image?  Suppose to be from someones Facebook page working for Sanral.

Fake or real?
R14m is a lot more than R1m mentioned.
7:38am vs online for 9h38. online 2h before midnight?
Could they have made R14 in the first few hours? Early hours of the morning that is?

So if you divide the R15mil by the 10hrs it was running you get 1.5mil per hour. * 30 days * 24hrs = R1.08 billion per month?

But this image makes no sense because the system was switched on at midnight so the image should be 9.30am?

Difficult to say without knowing the context.

I get an average transaction of R5.28?  Doesn't seem unreasonable.

Over 2 million transactions in 9 odd hrs seems high, but I dont really know what you could expect on Gauteng freeways.

As for the time discrepancy that could just be that the computer time was wrong.  Some people don't bother to to set them properly, especially in a corporate environment?

Difficult to say overall ....

Hell of a lot of money in a short space of time though if it is true, must be nice being one of the shareholders in the collection fee chain!

I'm gonna call this Fake.

If its not then they have an atrocious reporting system. The window says "Report Generator" then shows a gantry with no identification and some very large numbers without much detail. No information on what type of vehicles? tagged and not tagged etc...

Also there are two photos superimposed on one another, one of a e-toll gantry and one of a regular toll plaza, notice the green and red lights indicating closed and open toll lanes. Add to that the time-lapse streaks of the vehicles lights, no way you would get that from a regular camera shot and even if they did a time-lapse shot, the figures on the screen would be a blur too.

It is just a time lapse photo used as a background for the information page.  The photo might be on the N17 where the gantry is before the toll gates. Presume the toll gates are now inactive.
