CRF250L mods for top speed increase?

Picked up a stock 250L on Friday and did a trip to Parys and back. Top speed I got was about 117km/h, but I had some gear strapped on the back and a backpack, and maybe a few extra kg's over the recommended weight per rider of the bike.

Are there any mods that will give me a significant top speed increase, to say about 130km/h with the extra baggage? And don't say lose the spare wheel, that's work in progress

Done the mods myself - now the bike does an indicated 190. Traded my CRF250L for a NC700X. Best move I ever made.

No seriously, I saw 159km/h indicated one day on a downhill with the wind pushing from behind. Standard 250.

weight affects acceleration but has relatively little effect on top speed ...it only results in increased friction on bearings and wind resistance cos weight adds bulk. so keep the spare tyre.

117km from a bike pushing out 22hp seems low....is it possible speedo is faulty?

getting to your question , I think mods are going to cost you more money than its worth, trade it on on a 650 xr and voila...might be the cheaper alternative too

Top speed should not even be an issue on a 250, it is what it is. Get offroad !

Ok, going to keep it stock and will upgrade to something bigger later.

Zacapa, how is the NC handeling on gravel?

On the 230 i changed the front sprocket from 13 to 14, which made u huge difference
Maybe something to try?

Change to 1 bigger tooth sprocket in front,you will get a little more topend but lose a bit of low down power

The NC does gravel pretty good - came back from the national bash with a couple  of mates through the Transkei.
Only limiting factor is the suspension - does not like bad gravel too much.
