You can read the 2014 Dakar buildup thread right here. http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=116397.0

The full moto entry list can be found here: http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2014/us/rider/rider-list-bikes.html

Our own South African competitors (moto) are:

Riaan van Niekerk #30 on a KTM with the KTM factory team aiming for a top 10 we all hope!

Brett Cummings #59 On a KTM riding without any support in malle moto class, aiming for a finish! He is also a wilddog Rallyrider2.  :thumleft:

Brett on the Left, Riaan on the right.

GOOOO BOYS!!!

Lets not forget the cars:

Dakar winner Giniel de Villiers is hoping to win again in his Toyota, supported by German co driver Dirk von Zitzewitz in a toyota #302
Toyota is a very strong and professional South African team, a small but very well respected by the organisation and other competitors.

Lookout for the second car from this team # 323 Driven by Leeroy Poulter and Robert Howie, both South African.

But wait, there's more!

Thomas Rundle and Juan Mohr in another Toyota Hilux #404 will also be competing after they won the Dakar Challenge at the Toyota Kalahari 1000

Last but not least are Christiaan Visser and Jacob Badenhorst driving a ford #329

No doubt there will be many more riders and drivers to dicsuss. Who will win?  Will Depres equal Peterhansel's record of 6 wins on a bike? Or will Coma take back the crown? Maybe someone new like "Bang Bang" Barreda? It going to be exciting for sure.

Get it all here. We would love to hear your thoughts too as everything unfolds.  :deal:

Hope you can keep up!!  :ricky:  :ricky:  :ricky:  :ricky:  :ricky:

Laia on the podium, apparently having to jump-start her bike. That must do her nerves no good......

But it is on in Wilddogs:

I'm not a fundi, but Darryl was quite badly injured at Dakar last year and took a long time to recover. He felt he wasn't prepared well enough to race this year.

..makes sense. Van Biljon did us proud on his quad last year....would have loved to follow his progress.  :thumleft:

Darryl told me that the one of the other riders, the late great Kurt Caselli if I remember correctly, asked him after his crash last year how much of a bonus he was going to get at the finish. When Darryl said he was getting no bonus, Kurt just shook his head and said something like "Mad South African, huge crash and just carries on riding, simply to finish...."
Tough bugger, Darryl. He must have gone through hell to get to the finish.

''140km into the first special a Dakar serious danger (!!!).. Marking up the first stage roadbook''

Is there a colour scheme that is generally used? Or does everybody have their own scheme?
