Absolutely vice versa for me, makes this one look like a like cheap ssshh* (just me opinion, and me alone)  :roll:

That's in comparision only. I do prefer extraordinary and different things over regular boring stuff, so...

Must see the 950SE in real life someday, on pics it certanly does not look as good as the original drawings were.

This is the sexiest bike on the planet to me almost right now (certainly in the Enduro class), I think its HAWT

The Hp2 would be nice except for the dumb ass stupid looking light thing upfront. And oh yes, those shin breakers. But the rear of the Hp2 is still the sexiest thing to me on any bike, ever.

The HP2 is way sexy. Me likes it! Even the headlight!   I like the design of the frame around the tank. Very cool. What I find a bit strange on the HP2 is that the jugs are not balanced. One is more forward than the other. Anyone know why? But what really puts me off: the price. I had ?10K in the budget for a new machine. Like all good budgets, it got streched slightly for the 950R, by ?1.5k. I could not justify blowing it by ?6k. Thats a bit much. If I could though, I would have both!

When the 950ADV 1st came out, I did not like its styling at all. I prefer the minimal approach. Like I prefer the GS 1150 ADV to the GS 1200. The styling of the 950ADV is starting to grow on me though... after riding one. I found it very comfortable for my frame.  
 
Its a good thing they make so many different style of bikes... it is easier for us to find something we really like, and that suits our tastes and personalities. Long live the ride!! :thumbup:

Kev, I personally think you are about to take ownership of what has to be in my eyes one of the most sexy, brutal and completely &*^&*^ amazing bikes ever.

It just so happens that I had a chat to the manager of one of the BMW outlets in Cape Town (whose name and dealership is to remain anonymous) and he confessed that he is obliged to drive a BMW to and from work but as soon as the 950 enduro is available here he is getting himself one. He is for obvious reasons very knowledgeable on the HP 2 but in his words the "the KTM kicks ass"

Why should there be a backlash? I mean, we are free to choose what we like, no? I can understand that BMW would like to uphold their image, and part of it is that staff ride what they sell and service. Its called marketing. Harley has the same policy. So has Buell. I do not know if any of the Jap dealers have this policy.

Re: buying? Of course most of the target group for this type of moto would buy the Katoom, it's cheap as chips compared to HP2 and thus has better price/performance ratio than the HP2.

But everybody knows the HP2 is absolutely extraordinary machine, better quality (welllll, with huge price, mind) and of course technically, it's faster than the 950SE  

Still me would not buy eighter of them machine guns if i wasn't on Optic or Dakar rallye top 50 rider's list No point other than showoff with huge cost while only using only a fraction of the bike's real performance and abilities. I'd rather get some DR400 or WR450 with much lower price for my level of skills, and i probably still wouldn't grow out of these after i've won some national offroad championships multiple times

In that point of view, the hyper-motos like the HP2 and 950SE are for the uber-mighty men only, technically U gotta be in the world's top riders list to use all the power available elsewhere than a straight road

For "living the dreams" or collecting you can buy nomatter what of course... Stick on the road and drive carefully, do a bit "offroad" (aka child's play) sometimes etc.

This is exactly the point why most people get the bikes that they do. It is about passion. It is about feelings. It is about enjoyment, and that "feel-good" feeling. Very few people can use a bike to its potential. That does mean the rest of us cannot live in hope, no?    In the meantime, its about enjoying the ride. No matter what machine you are on.

I have spoken to the mechs at three BMW dealerships and they all ride different bikes to BMW. So it aint gospel for all levels of workers at BMW stealerships when it comes to Bikes...
