Not in much of hurry this morning but I wanted to ride.
Only pulled away at ten. I promised myself I will not ride in 6th gear on dirt today. Meaning
i will not ride faster than 120.
On the road towards Albertinia.
A quick fillup and I take the dirt out of Albertinia. After the good summerrains we had
everything is green. These longnecks have enough to eat.
I go past the Valsriviermond turnoff down this valley.
These two monsters do not work on Sundays. Because of the good rains a lot of
farmers are planting summer grazingcrops. Of course the green one is the better
looking.

Normally this area will only be green this time of year where there is irrigation.
Boran cattle. The new "in" breed.
Alfalfa ready to be baled. One of the best smells on earth.
The Gouritsriver still has a lot of water it. It was a big flood with lots of damage at some
places.
Herbertsdale. Yes they do not build a lot of houses there. Love the little town with its
surrounding very vertile red soils.
Just after Herbertsdale I turn off on one of my favourite roads close to home. Never boring
with a lot of turns and deep valleys just to climb over the next plato. Also the dirt is a very
fine gravel and it spins very easily around corners for some reason > ;D
First turnoff.
This little river damages all the cement bridges when in flood. I turn right after it instead of left
like i normally do. I have not ridden this road but have an vague idea where it goes.
Good choice. Beautiful road. Deep valley and high plato's. :thumleft:
Suppose it could not be hgh tide that brought this boat here!!! :eek7:
And the road took me to the town of Brandwag. So my vague idea was a bit out :eek7:
Small church but still used by the look of the car tracks on the grass.
I took the tar to Hartenbos and then the point at Mosselbay. Ride past all those restuarants selling
food but did not feel like stopping. The smell was great though :drif:
I stick on tar out of Mosselbay until after Kleinberg and then turn left on dirt direction Vleesbaai.
Short but great road.
How cool is this!!!! These two trees join at the top and there are a few "vink" nests where
they join.
I turn off right before Vleesbaai and i do a piece of road i have not done before. Again good
choice. I stop at the bridge over the Gouritzriver close to the ocean and the town of Gouritzmond.
Everytime this river is in flood it takes away a lot of soil.
I skip Gouritzmond and head for home. Stillbay in the distance.
I take a shortcut through some farms to get home.
Turning in at my gate i find this little guy. Note his right hindleg is gone!!!! So he got a lift on
a bike, got a name..................................Driewiel and now lives in our garden, OK he was still
here when the sun went down!!
I left at ten and was back at 2.30 pm, 270 kms later.................................................and I did
not cheat by shifting to 6th on dirt eepwall:
I'm glad i was out on the bike today. :thumleft:
Thanks for reading.
