After getting water in the engine (https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=144109.0) I was advised to change the oil. Good thing, because I never thought of checking the oil myself. These pictures tell the tale.

Anyway, I tried the FRAM PH3614 filter as suggested in this thread (https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=141260.msg2710929#msg2710929) but it did not fit. The threads were very similar, but different enough that the new filter only does 2 turns then stops. I also tried one from the 80's 3-series BMW, same story (the newer ones use a cartridge filter). To make sure my bike's thread was not buggered I checked with the original filter and it goes on smoothly.

So the question, where can I find an aftermarket filter for the GS, like a Hiflofiltro or any other? If I have to I will pay Bavarian the R250 odd rands that an oil filter costs, but it grates me having to pay so much when car filters costs less than R100.
