Hi Heti

Our group currently use a version of the DAKAR Logo...well we actually we call ourselves RAKAD

Here are some pics of the Shirts ,Badges and stickers we have had made.

Kind Regards

Kaboef I hear what you are saying and Eisbein as well, although I must agree with what Eisbein is saying. If you read this thread from the start you will find that the WD's are being their normal self with the banter and advice then behold who jumps right into your face ? when it is stated that our group uses ........... on a WD forum that in itself invites this type of reaction or maybe I am missing the point ?

ROUTE DIFFICULTY:1 = tar
2 = good gravel /pillion friendly
3 = interspersed with sand, mud, sand , bush / not pillion friendly
4 = lots of sand, technical riding
5 = expert only (we are not worthy, still to meet one)

ok back to the original post

you can get Dakar stickers from Bike Stuff in paarden Island by the way...

hayleyscomet - why RakaD? (besides for the fact that it's Dakar in reverse, is there any other meaning)?

seriously, just curious... is it a team? a bike club?

Try this http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=Dakar+stickers&category0=

Or if you feel like posing big time:

Since you have a F650GS Dakar, you can ask your local dealer for a decal.

Shame Eisbein ....I see you still having that kraaifontein jealousy problem ?

o jaa by the way i forgot, never take a man on about where he lives (unless you have that special relationship where you banter, like me and topbox with the Honda vs BMW debate, though I doubt you and Eisbein have such a relationship)

it takes a direct stab at his financial disposition, which i find to be really low. and i highly doubt eisbein gives 2 hoots where you or he lives

i live in brackenfell. i dare you to say something.

I have been off the net the whole day and only caught up on the thread now... Now in review my initial post was rather argumentative and wholly undignified... So to Haleyscomet I apologize completely,I wont be so short fused again.... Also along the lines of the _Wes,I would be interested in why Rakad, other than the obvious? To Heti, sorry for the uncalled for Hijack... Hope someone answered your Query?
Now lets just have a beer! ;D

I would say what I said to anyone's face.

I might think twice about Davy though - he's big...
:D ;D

I hope you are finding the 'taking a stab' low and not my financial position...

Ummmm, a quick question... where does the Dakar logo originate? If there is a valid TM then it really does belong to the owner thereof.

I have really no idea here - both Katoom and Beem have Dakar models - and heck, it is after all the name of the town... I would be very interested to know.

In fact, I will scoot onto Google and see what he says.

Old, grey, crafty...

You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars. Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait, the grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will and energy to execute your ideas. Enthusiasts are fighters. They have fortitude. They have staying qualities. Enthusiasm is at the bottom of all progress. With it, there is accomplishment. Without it, there are only alibis.

Hi Guys

The basic Idea Behind the Rakad vs Dakar Logo was the following....

If you look at the Dakar logo you can the Bedouin man is facing you....

The design was altered to show the Bedouin man's back of head with the idea of putting it on the Back of our Helmets ...and then the suggestion was made to reverse the Letters and we Liked it.

SO thats the history....we are a small group of guys that love riding everyday of the week if we can.
Mainly we get out on Saturdays ....that way we can ride from sunup to sundown with out getting into too much crap from from the wives and the we have the whole of sunday with them.

Breakfast is and essential part of any ride we plan...along with Lots and lots of Dirt and Water.
SAND always comes into the picture...and as much as I love the stuff I always end up having to to pick the heavy Bitch up

So that's Rakad....Yes yes we do the whole BMW thing and admit mostly we only get to ride with BMW's
However we have had non BMW bikes with us and truely do welcome anyone on anybike anytime.

Feel free to PM or email anytime....

Eis my apologies for the personal Dig...My Rakad...is something very close to my heart.

p.s....Opened the Big Box yesterday

Kind Biking Regards

Wayne

Aaaah.. makes more sense now.
Thanks for posting the story behind the story.

That's the spirit !

Eis my apologies for the personal Dig...My Rakad...is something very close to my heart.

Understanding breeds tolerance - it does make more sense now.

No sweat then. Should not have called you an idiot either. I don't do that often...
:D ;D

So when are you going to be at a drinks Friday so that we can officially bury the hatchet ?

:D ;D

p.s....Opened the Big Box yesterday

My fantasy stops at the 1150GSA for a couple of reasons, but I have to say the 1200GSA looks awesome.

It does sound like you are using it for what it was designed for - getting out there - enjoy it.

Thanks for clearing things up.

If I can quote you one last time - 'Ride Safe'

+1 on that idea.

Cool HC. It's always easier when you understand the thinking behind the idea. Communication is king.

Why did a lone Rakad stickered 12ADV stood in the BM Bloemfontein (speedbike) workshop last year end Sept / beginning Okt?
