It poured - but not as much as 100km away, where it completely destroyed the track we were planning to take through the Richterseveld. We went for breakfast down by the river, to wash away the previous day's dirt... and a beautiful river it is indeed in the morning light!

Then it was off to Vioolsdrift to cross the border for fuel. And loiter in Felix's pool for four hours. The heat had taken most of what I had left at this point, so sadly I have very few pictures of the last two days.

Seriously, if you haven't seen this area, you owe it to yourself. But try in winter. We were riding with 3 litre camelbacks and up to another 7 litres on the bikes, and sometimes it still wasn't enough.

To get the best out of it, you also need up to 500km worth of fuel, and you're a long way from help, so bear that in mind. It was a hard trip, but an absolutely unforgettable one.
I leave you with one final picture, this time from the Richtersveld, which we rode through on our way back to Springbok. I can only thank the gods, the stars and the big celestial bunny in the sky that we are lucky enough to have experiences such as these.
