Hey guys. Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.

The wise comment re the mind being the biggest issue is very true.

Physio took me for a 10m walk yesterday. Got a little breathless and then had a panic attack that was really hard.

Still in ICU and they will let me out if I can walk to the loo. But it's baby steps.

To summarize docs's words. Body is very well. Mind needs confidence, and that takes time.

And to Splash, the trigger event was 200m from end of Midmar Mile. Doc says if the race had been 200m longer I may have been fatally DNF.

Those first steps are hardest to take, then the slow healing
Been there recently and its not nice or easy.

If you are able to share, I would most grateful to know more about how you felt and what happened. Were there any warning signs or anything like that?
