Okay so I took her out on her first outing and cheese what a ride.
The first Rebel dog run for 2014, see the ride report .
The first part of the ride was part tar part dirt and we travelled through Mamelodi to The Dinokeng reserve and from there to Hammanskraal where we had a smoke break. The next boring bit of tar to Pienaarsrivier was luckily the last of that.
Now the real fun starts! You just point and turn the throttle and it just goes doesnt matter what is in the way, on the real rough sections the bike seems to be a bit lite and I got a bit of an arm workout.
It handled the mud like a charm, cornering is something that I will have to get use to coming from a KTM Super Enduro. I was really impressed with the 14/48 sprocket setup and I was cruising along on 110Km/h, if I really gunned it I got 147km/h. With this set up you do not sacrifice any low down talk in the technical sections. I will really consider the 15 for the front. The 15l fuel tank is more than enough, I did not do a km per litter calculation but I was fine all the way.
The CRF 450 X is an awesome bike and it was 100% suited for the weekends type of riding, and the Trailtech GPS computer combo is the real deal, from ave to max on speed, temperature and revelations. The bike ran at speed at about 61 degrees on the outlet water temp from the radiator back to the engine. The highest temperature measured was 78 degrees when it was idling for quite a while. It ran at about 7500 revolutions at a speed of 110km/h. The bike is really light an a lot of airtime was possible, it lifts the front wheel for anything and that is real lekker fun.
Some fotos of the weekend to follow.
