On what authority can aj officer tear up a licence disc?

In die SAW was daai vernietiging van staatseiendom. Gousdous sal vir hom n DD1 gekry het. :patch:

My point is that the licence disc is an official document. It serves little purpose to tear it up. Just do a reprint. Fact is he has no right to destroy your property....you paid for that disc. How can he alow you to drive without one? My bike and numberplate is always in top condition except for some dirt sometimes.

My guess is, is that the license disk is in fact property of the government and you are just holding on to it for them.  The fact that you paid for it does not make it your property in the same way in which paying taxes does not make Nkandla your comopund/homestead, by extension.
Freedom is directly proportional to risk.

Can one not lodge a written complaint to his department ?

Then they must put it in writing, that what he does is legal or not...............and obviously he would
be informed and/or be part of the solution.

It is sad when these individuals go on a power trip and act in a god-like manner where they decide
your fate.....................and you cannot question him in any way.  :-\

Like my dad said, a 9mil pil solves a lot of problems.

Problem is that these fcks think they are the be all and end all of the law.

Report him, its not the first I hear of this
I'm not saying kill stupid people, I'm saying, remove the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

How many of these dramas would have happened if the guys were NOT pulled over? So WHY were they pulled over?

We all know that very few cops have a sense of humour, so why give them reason to get revved up? Believe me they have heard every single lame excuse for not having a number plate before!

Don't know if the same laws still apply but many, many years ago I was clocked at around 105dB in a Pretoria roadblock and the traffic cop promptly scraped the license disk off the bike with a pen knife. I had to roadworthy it again with other pipes.

These are very true words, Ahlbebuck:

Fact of the matter is that there is a fine for driving without a number plate, for which you need to cough up if pulled over. This is however not a reason to declare the bike un roadworthy. I see you are from Mpumalanga, therefore you will not understand the ungoing reasons for not driving with a number plate in Gauteng.

BikerJan: Driving without a number plate is a choice! I understand the e-toll issue, but we choose to break the law! If we get stopped and the bike / car is put under a microscope to find more faults, even ones that will have it declared un-roadworthy, we should understand why it has happened!

The cop should by law have stated the exact regulations that were contravened... that being said we have a number of little hitlers out there that believe the uniform places them above the law.

BUT if your attitude is laid back and friendly when stopped you will be amazed at what can be overlooked. Being co operative often brings out the best in them... I recently absent mindedly went way over the speed limit on my way to Qwaqwa... jail time speed I may add... the cop let me go with a "Now keep to the limit meneer" and a wave! Granted I think he was dozing when the lazer beeped him awake as he did not quote the speed to me when I stopped... just "Meneer is bietjie haastig..." but I know what I saw on my speedo! A real Oh SHIT moment on my part!

Jirre mense verstaan julle nie. There is a difference between being harassed and being pulled off and fined by someone doing his job because you are transgressing the law.

Most stories start with 'I was pulled over for not having a numberplate on the bike'

I see a pattern

:imaposer:

And yes - being pulled over for something wrong and being harassed are two different things.

I'm not coming up for this poephol, but I won't be surprised if he pre-adjusts his houding just as he sees a bike without a plate just by making up his mind that the guy on the plateless bike is up to no good and a trouble maker.

Just sayin'

What will your story be?

From here:

http://www.iol.co.za/motoring/industry-news/put-on-your-number-plate-or-walk-1.1584338#.UxhbmYU2d3U

Provincial traffic chief Kenny Africa said on Sunday that any car on the road without number plates, either on the front, rear or both ends of the vehicle, would be “immediately discontinued”.

That would mean the car’s licence disc would be confiscated and the owner would be forced to complete a scheduled roadworthy test at one of the department’s centres before the car could be legally driven again.

No!

I said "Go to the papers. If there is one of you that has been HARASSED there are thousands. A shit storm will brew and the problem will get solved."

Operative word.

I Think you have no recourse if you are the one that has broken the law.
