Navigator V on 1200 LC
« on: March 06, 2014, 11:52:57 am »
Hi Guys,

I have purchased a Nav V and am very happy with it. I have one problem when trying to link auto logged tracks, but assume I can do this in BaseCamp.

Anyway, below is a detailed report / review of the NAV V, if you are interested.

You are correct - you can only combine the tracks in Basecamp (or another PC based tool incl Mapsource).

I get the tracks linked in basekamp, but would have liked to select tracks and combine them on the unit, perhaps a mail to garmin can sort that out?

Has anybody managed to get a playlist on the thing that actually works?

I have now resorted to rename the genres to pop or rock or whatever before I transfer the songs to the memory card. Then on the navigator I can select genres and so manage playlists in essence. But this is not how it should be. So, any advice?

The Nav 5 is a nice gadget.....  The LC is just not complete without it.

I could not agree more.

the extra info it has is fun.  average, max, min riding temp, how many times you changed gear, (so many gear changes??), throttle average position, etc.  it makes interesting reading.

I like the screen where is shows all the info of your trip.

I just wished the bike control did more to control the gps, I am sure a upgrade will come.

also having to use basecamp drives me crazy, I normally go straight off the pc maps.  but it can be changed, it is just a setting.  but it is the future so get used to basecamp.

Seems the wheel can only scroll through menus left AND right, zoom in and out and change the song playing. That is that. Then it flips through menus on the bike info. Is that all or am I missing something?

and a few others thing, but very few.

I am hoping there is a upgrade coming.

I did a off-road ride Sunday and zooming in and out on difficult sections was very handy.  also logging a new waypoint was nice, now I need to go back and name them.

Can anyone confirm if I can buy the Nav V and then load maps or stick another Garmin's micro SD in in order for it to work? Makes a R2500 diff in purchase price.

My display changes by itself when on rough gravel roads i.e. will change from map view to data view on its own, etc. Suspect the scroll wheel is the culprit. Anybody else experience this?
