Will it improve…???
« on: March 16, 2014, 10:37:03 am »
Went for a ride yesterday with my newly purchased Gaerne React MX boots. Have never ridden with these type of boots before.

It was scary to say the least.

I had moved my gear lever up ….but i guess a little too much, because i could get the boot under it, but had to lift my foot off the peg to change down.

Was constantly looking down to see if my boot sole was on the footbreak, as i couldn't feel it at all.

Standing on the pegs was comfortable, but once again ,…changing gears and breaking while standing was a nightmare.

Please tell me that this gets better with time….what other adjustments, optional gear should i incorporate to make riding with these boots more comfortable, and hence safer…I honestly felt that riding like i did yesterday was dangerous…!!!

Anyone…???

Yes it will get better as you get used to it.

Adjust your gear lever to allow you to change gears with the "lip" the boot sole makes, that way you do not have to try get your boot under the lever to change and it also still allow used with "normal" shoes (in case you are not always going to ride with the boots).

It takes a while...

What Garfield said.

I have had my Reacts for about 2 months now and they are very comfy and work great.

In fact , I am thinking of setting my lever a bit lower again as I find that the boots are now very move able.

Have you ridden with other boots before ?

@ Garfield…yes…that sounds good….because like i said i can get the boot under the lever…but not onto of it…so if i try using the boot lip to change…then i can move the lever slightly down again…it is def too high…tks mate

Saw the PM. Figured I answered it on this thread.

Soft leather boots will be your problem. No matter what boots you try after that you are going to battle for a while. But I promise it does get better. Give it a bout 20 hours of riding and then come tell me . ;)

Tks Hando….good to know that it gets better….will give it more time…and then tell you….i really love the boots though…feel like they really do give good protection to the feeds……one more quickie….for some reason…with these boots i am now more tippy toe when at a stand still…this is a problem…because i am basically standing on the metal toe caps…which are slippery to say the least…do you think i could take these metal tips off the boot….??
