GoPro Hero 2 won't power on

After an unsuccessful software upgrade my GoPro Hero 2 wont power on.  I have scoured the internet for solutions - unsuccessfully.  I have tried all the combinations and permutations of charging, battery removal/insertion, SD card removal/insertion, plugging the USB cable in/unplugging etc. I am a bit at my wits end - can anyone help ?.
