Had my annual service for the 1st time as I normally travel more than 10k a year when commuting. my mileage is just over 15k km. The cost of the service was just over R1900 but must still bring it in for the 20k service, this could now get expensive. I needed to replace all my brake pads and would have cost me R2800 with labor at Donford CT, had it done at Trac Mac for R1200 for all three fitted! Bike goes out of warranty in 2 months, so not concerned. I had my mates 2011 GSA annual service done yesterday at Donford CT as well as he is in Saudi and I ride his bike once a week to work. His mileage is just over 23k and this cost him R2080.00. Seems all very similar in price.

Those days have been gone for decades Chris.  In fact, were there even such days?

Not bad, i'm sure the radiator guards were +- 1 grand.  so 1700 bob is what i'll expect to pay in the next week or two when I do my 10k at Sandton.

40k service at Bavarian last month was about R2800.  This is the big one one a boxer as it includes plugs and replacement of all fluids and filters.  It was the most expensive yet.

A colleague just forked out R6k  for a 20k service on his S10!   :-[

I paid Euro256,85 for the annual service.  This included - wait for it... NOTHING special.  That was R4130 at the exchange rate in July when it was done.  Perhaps R3900 today.

I keep on saying that the South African dealers are not half as bad as many want to make them sound.  :peepwall:

cant compare like that... you pay in dollars and whatnot.
Ia good way to compare costs realistically is to simply x10.

this is funny. Passion is awesome and so on but some owners just love to speach how the maintenance costs of BMW is much higher. The service costs in this thread is also less than what I always saw as quoted for a Suzuki Vstrom as well.
Oh and btw...the services on my diesel F30 shape BMW is also in these regions, which I also think is exceptional and imo not only better than other German manufacturers service costs but also Japanese.

[/quote]My 1200 GSA and NC services are fairly on par. Funny enough, my Toyota is also pretty much the same for a service. I generally expect to pay between R1500-2500 for most services and then a big one around R4 000.

Yap, I think times have changed.

So the question, did German prices drop or Jap prices climb...

The service costs in this thread is also less than what I always saw as quoted for a Suzuki Vstrom as well.

I had a DL1000 from beginning 2008 to end 2010.  Did just on 70 000km on it and even back then the services, every 6 000km, was R1800 - R2500.  That is what we seem to be paying for LC services, at 10 000km intervals, now!

One of the reasons I now have a BMW is because back then, my wife had a BMW and everytime I saw her services cheaper and way better quality and professionalism it made me wonder more about a Beemer.
