Been trying the banting thing the last few weeks. The most difficult part for me was leaving out chocolates, other than that I could really get used to eating like this. Here's just a few of my creations:

Hake in white wine and cream with bacon topping. Gem squash with butter, blue cheese and sage on the side.

Bacon, Avo and Halloumi Salad.

Quiche with spinach, danish feta and biltong.

Calamari and cabanossi with red peppers and garlic.

And for dessert!
100% Banting coconut flour and xylitol muffin with almonds.

Well, you can eat chocolate, it just has to be completely sugar and gluten and everything free :P Hence I came up with a banting muffin recipe :D

Minxy the Baron does a version of your Calamari, but cooks green and black olives in with it, it works.
We have to start wondering...what kind of world are we going to leave Keith Richards?

That sounds fantastic! Please share the recipe with us :)

And Welsh, I forgot to mention I added black olives to my calamari recipe too. It's sooo yummy!

Recipe for the Quiche with spinach, danish feta and biltong   . Please

Subie, the biltong quiche is really, really easy:

-Preheat Oven to 180 and prepare a round baking tin with some non stick spray or grease.

My measurements are not exact to yours. You must try judge how much you'll need according to the size baking tin you'll be using. This is how I do it:

-Put a good big handful of sliced biltong into a pan with some butter/fat. Stir for a min or two, then add two or so handfuls of cut spinach. Stir some more. Make sure not to overcook this though.
-Spread the biltong, spinach mix evenly throughout the bottom of the baking tin.
-Crumb some Danish feta over the biltong, spinach mix.

-In a separate bowl, mix 6 eggs together with a splash of cream and some salt/pepper.
-Gently pour egg mixture over the ingredients in the baking tin.
-To finish it off, grate some cheddar cheese over the top of everything you have in the tin.

-Put in the oven for 20 min.

Enjoy! :D

Hier is my chillie-chocolate

This is the original recipe - called THE EASIEST COCONUT OIL FUDGE YOU'LL EVER MAKE

half a cup coconut oil
half a cup cocoa powder
quarter cup honey
dash of vanilla (optional)

Mix ingredients in a medium glass bowl until smooth.  Spread into a small glass container ) (a 6 x 6 square worked for me) and refrigerate until solid.  Cut into squares and savor every bite.
Tips  :  coconut oil must be melted gently first.
You can get creative with this recipe and ad shredded coconut, almonds or walnuts as desired.

This is my version.  It tastes like Lindt Chillie Chocolate.

half a cup coconut oil
half a cup cocoa powder
start with about 200ml sweetener and add if necessary.  (When I use Xylitol, I first chop it much finer)
dash of vanilla (I use at least 5ml vanilla)
Cayenne Pepper to taste.  (I use at least 5ml, but it is to hot for most people)

Make a small quantity and see if you like it before you waste half a cup of every thing.

Lekker eet.

Just as a friendly side note, remember Xylitol is extremely poisonous to dogs. I am not sure about cats or other pets.

Please keep this in mind when cooking and you have the urge to let Pluto lick the bowl...
