Slept in the hotel once. Pricing was not too bad and food good.

Just don't camp in the municipal camp site.  The town clock overshadows the camp and rings the quarters stridently through the night.  Then there are stray folk and dogs that seem to wander through at all hours.

And don't expect there to be a restaurant where you'll be able to get a humble burger and beer.

Apart from the Royal Hotel (are they still open?) there's

Rika's B&B
Villa D'Lockyer
The Willow Historical Guesthouse.

There's also a private game lodge outside town, Zandibela.

Highly recommended, just note no electricity, about 10 ks out of town and a jeep track of about 2km to reach it.

When was this?

We camped there one night last December and apart from the one drunk before sundown who left after I told him he will have a nasty hangover with .40 holes through him it was quite peaceful.

Cannot comment on food, we found decent lamb chops and had a braai which worked for us.

Check out Finchleys Farm on net. 3 km outside town on PrinsAlbert Road. I always camp there. Got funky rocket shower! Gamefarm with variety of accomodation.

Last May in the week after the EC Bash.  If I'd had a .40 I'd put some holes in that bloody clock!  The custodial staff were quite willing and pleasant.

Must have been the .40 then

Having said that, it is not my first choice in camp sites even though the staff were very accommodating and friendly.

I cant comment on the life in Willowmore after 5pm, but  I find it a very nice little town during daytime.

I recently had the best pies ever (reads better than Peregrines Grabouw & Ou Meul Riviersonderend) at The Belly Deli & Sophia's Choice in Willowmore.

We stayed at Timbila Game lodge in superb tenthouse accommodation, just 50kms on the the way to Steytlerville. Dualsport bike heaven! We paid R 250 pp for the 1st 2, and R 225 thereafter.

We had lunch at the Belly Deli on Sunday 27th April.
A REAL man's portion of delicious lamb stew, rice, potato and veggies.
I couldn't eat it all - and I have a great appetite!

I recommend!  :thumleft:

The Willow Historical Guesthouse belongs to Peppie vd Merwe, a personal friend of mine, he is married to Sophia who owns the coffee shop "Sophies Choice" Peppie also has a newly renovated farm with very nice rooms about 17km's on the Uniondale road called Keurbooms.

Give him a call, I am sure he will work out a price for you.
