690 Clutch assitance
« on: May 18, 2014, 03:54:12 pm »
I noticed yesterday that I could not engage neutral while engine was running. Today the pull and release became very short on the lever and was not disengage the gears all they way. Does it just need a fluid top or could it be another issue?

check fluid level

check for leaks, particularly on clutch slave cylinder at end of hose on engine casing - this is a common failure on LC8 slave cylinders and can also affect LC4 models like yours

Best upgrade you can do is replace with an Oberon slave cylinder - google them

The older I get the faster I was

Txs, if the fluid is low, can I just top it up, or do I have to bleed it?

Top it up and bleed it - if it has run very low on fluid it may have sucked in air and will therefore need to be bled

When I said check the slave cylinder I mean unbolt it from engine casing (but leave hose attached) and check if it is leaking on the inside - you will quickly see if it is wet because it should be dry
