155 Entries so far..

It is going to be just awesome.

Mom joining us on Saturday, me and the 2 laaities camping till Sunday, let's see.

@Chris

The kiddie track shares sections with the Junior track, so it will be problematic, but if you can fit the bike in, bring it with and let's see if we can make a plan somewhere, sometime.

So I am all packed up and waiting for work to end so I can go setup at the campsite.

While waiting for time to pass I  worked out that I have enough battery on my desk to power my experia z1 for 943 hours of talk time on a 3g network.....

gonna be a lot of flying!

A lot of rain and mud, got a fair bot of footage here and there where the rain stopped or the drizzle was soft enough for me to risk flying. not the shots I had hoped to get but well worth the practice.

Editing now so will be a week or more

I never raced but getting in and out of the pits in the my bakkie in that mudfest was exciting enough for me  ;) I've never seen so many vehicles recovered by a tractor in my life, that farmer and his helpers each deserve a race medal  ;) I don't have race photos but I have a few around pit lane which I'll post a little later  :thumleft:

Well done to WCOC for putting on a great race in very difficult conditions. All things considering, I think you guys did an outstanding job  :thumleft:

I R Knackered.   :deal:

Started riding, pre running my two tracks at first light, by 10:00 I was soaked and chilled to the bone.

Finished the sweeping just after 16:00.

Well done to all the racers that came out to support a "far" race, braved the weather and mud in the pits - it was trying at best.

Some more RR from me later -  I need to get the mud of everything first.

@N[]va, thank you for your effort, the vids you showed us at the campsite Friday is pretty amazing top notch stuff - I was sorry that I couldn't watch any more, but duty called.

I spend 3 hours to do one loop.  40km I think.  I basically pushed my 250 4T up a million dunes and crashed everywhere there was a convenient spot.  Got back to Upington late yesterday.  I'm going to have to powerwash my bike on the bakkie to be able to move it.  The chain is solid.

Somehow in my honeymoon-addled brain I thought doing an off-road race on antibiotics was a good idea (yes, I did get in trouble on my return home :)) and felt like goldilocks' baby sister trying to wrestle a python in a mudpit. Lost badly and gave up on first lap. Paid price yesterday... Disappointing - it was an amazing track and there was real fun to be had. Kudos to the orbs!!

PS > There was a great Erzberg-style hill right at the end of the lap, within view of the pits. Saw some spectacular action - someone must have great pix?

What an Awesome Track ! well done to the organisers ! you certainly created a wonderful route with a bit of everything   and the sand sections were just right , not too soft and not too muddy.   If u had momentum you were on your way !

Wonderful to see so many people braving what turned out to be a great days racing even with crazy weather !

Hope Clive's injury is not too bad and that he will be up on his bike and doing his thing soon ! If anyone has the video footage or photos of the incident please let us all know where we can see them . i hear it was quite spectacular !!
Mary-anne you have a tough one there !!

To all the riders and supporters , well done and congratulations !

It was a privilege to ride around up down thru across over into  under around etc etc that great mountain and terrain !

A GREAT THANKS TO THE WCOC CLUB AND TEAM FOR A WONDERFUL RIDE !

DAN :)

Photos coming later ... but please anyone tell us where there are pics of the event as i was on track the morning so i would love to see some shots of the event from any time - tell us the website url ... utube , FB or anywhere ? Post it here please

thanks

Thank you to all that attended & braved the weather - never was going to be easy with heavy rain four weeks in a row.
As  mentioned this track would test competitors, it was possibly a bit harsh on the less fit riders however we have to try to mix the tracks up with variety.
Riebeeck West was fast , hot & sandy
Bot River heights undulating off-camber
Redelinghys sandy, rocky, tight and tuff.

@ Bill and all you guys from northern cape comming from far HUGE THAN YOU  for attending tuff race but you you would take a lot from it.
Will talk to the committee about a country membership & entry fee for those further then 200km - somehow we must try assit.
Chris, great to see you again - next time enter your little one, we take good care of them  :thumleft:
@ Jan - thanks for your efforts , wish i have more time but on raceday i run raggered - cant wait to see what you captured.
@ Ian better luck next time hope you feel better.
@ Dewald better luck - trust your ribs are not too bad.
@ Dave thanks for all your hard work - you know we appreciate it.

Well we got hammered by bad weather four weekends in a row, then on Friday, race day & until yesterday 2 pm so it was sure to be a tuff weekend.
The committee, competitors, crews & helpers were resilient in those conditions - still lots of smiles.

Ladies intro class was a blast - good to see them in high spirits (we need more ladies in this class)
Youngsters had ding dong battles - some serious talent coming through the ranks.
Interesting - fastest overall time Dylan on a Beta 300  &  2nd fastest overall time Kevin on a YFZ 450 quad.

Was great fun despite the weather.

I got one or two really awesome clips, the rain was really stopping me from getting the 5+km chase footage I was hoping for, just a quick look at the footage last night I think there will be somewhere around 20 minutes of usable video.

Hope to have something for you all in the next week or two
