Be careful when travelling to Paternoster...
« on: May 26, 2014, 11:53:38 am »
I attended a wedding in Paternoster last weekend - my car window was smashed, and the venue owner of the restaurant where the wedding was supposed to be was murdered.

Hectic!

Bottom-line is to not leave ANYTHING in your car (my window was smashed for a 10-year old fleece jacket), and to keep accommodation windows and doors locked at ALL times.

Apparently these issues are especially pertinent when it is not crayfish season (the people are desperate...).

We were there just 4 weeks ago - they stole the braai grid and tongs right from the stoepie while we were inside the house. Unreal man  :angryfire:

Contributing is that there are no police
It falls under Vredenburg police station. Government refused the application of a satellite station

I believe that the Tik monster has now spread from Cape Town, as far afield as Springbok and, yes, Paternoster as well.

People addicted to this drug are prone to violent crime to support their drug use.
One can no longer be too careful, even in the smallest of towns, in the furthest places.

My girlfriend and I nearly got robbed at knife-point in Steinkopf once, coming back from a solo trip to Namibia on an 800GS.

I guess it's still safe to park your bike outside a restaurant for a lunch?

Best to remember to take your tankbag off.
