Advice on KTM 990

So about 5 months ago I bought myself a 2012 f800gs now with 10000km on it, and really love it.........but my gat jeuk, so I am thinking of selling it to get a 990, so i would like to here from you okes as i do not know much about KTM ( only that i want one)  is it true that its cost a lot more than BMW to maintain and what problems to look for, i know services is about the same, i love all kinds of bikes( ok maybe not Harley's) but i do not want to do any brand bashing here just need some input and advice please
