According to Google...866 mm seat height for the Honda....and 810 mm for the Suzuki.

No idea, both my wife and daughter being really short the 230 is not a problem.

Either way, the 200 Suzuki and 230F are both great options  :thumleft:
Agree. Awesome if your family can ride with you. My 11 year old daugther rides with me on the DR 650, and my wife rides her DR 200. The little one has already hinted for her own bike!

CRF70 if she is short, CRF100 if not, it is the right thing to do...
My wife is 1.67m, and the "little" one nearly there! CRF 100 then?

CRF100 should be perfect  :thumleft:

Wife is 1.60 and daughter is a touch shorter and they both ride 230's (daughter started on CRF100, then TT-R125, now CRF230)
About R10k for an CRF 100 on OLX. And one in my hometown! Appreciate your advice!

Just do it.

The best thing I ever did was getting my daughter her CRF100.

Since then every single weekend has been family fun  :thumleft:

You cant go wrong, they are bullet proof low maintenance very forgiving bikes

wrt roadworthy - yes.

I bought mine used allready licenced, however one needs to get the papers & go check with the fellas at licence offices.
Some regions no problem, others give hassles - has something to do with the codes imported as.

I have slowly made changes to my CRF230 to make it a dual sport kinda machine.
Have used it for trips from Gillitts KZN to Lesotho & surrounds.
Can do most things with this bike - just a pity front suspension not better - would really have wanted that std.

I believe you can yes.

It will depend how it was originally registered on enatis.

I bought a brand new CRF230 in may 2009 for the missus. We were told by Honda back then already that there was no longer the option to make it roadworthy as it was now "built and registered" as an off road bike.

If I understood it correctly each bike built or imported rather is registered on enatis before we even look at it to buy and Honda started registering this particular bike as a "not for highway use" machine early in 2009, so it cannot be made roadworthy on the system.

About the bike, my vrou loves it, and I love the running costs. She is also a bit deprived in the height department and all I did was take the seat to an auto trimmer where he lowered it by about 2 inches. Not only can she touch the ground properly now, she also claims it is much more comfortable.

Even I have had hours of fun on the thing, and I am 112kgs (at the moment  :xxbah:)

Warren is correct: if the thing was new-registered as 'offroad only' then it will not go onroad ie can't be RWD'ed, so a recent model can't be converted.
Mind, it's a bit slow speedwise hence dangerous to do this in any case, and you mentioned your wife & kid? Don't, even if you could.
Great bike for newbies as well as for riding technical stuff, but an experienced rider will look for more power soon.... which can be easily found by doing a few things if you want this (porting of the extremely rough ports is a good start, then an exhaust, h/c piston and less soggy springs will do the rest).
But as said by all, a marvelous bike to get going on, you won't regret it. I have one for the tricky bits, with mentioned mods, and love it.
Mind 1 thing: new oil every 5 tanks = ~1000km's, it has no oilfilter! If the riding is going to be slow put a full synth in as it can get very hot because it is aircooled, but this makes it utterly reliable and safe to drop also.
