Ai, julle se daai gear assist is wild? Wel ek het myne bestel en sit hom Donderdag op. Hoop hy is lekker......... O0

Even as jy afgear, gee hy so automatiese blib, dit klink baie nice. Baie lekker speelding!

Welllll, bit the bullet and ordered the gear shift assist.  BMW said 2 days to get the enabling code from Germany, so today I popped in and they had everything ready.  Had my coffee (no muffin, shame on you Zambesi!!  ;)) and after 20 minutes the mechanic came back to me.

"No, sorry, no can do.  Since you bought the very first generation of LC GS, you have no harness to make this work.  You will have to get a new harness that has been specially covered in whale foreskin which will cost a fortune."

So much for early adoption, thanks BMW.

Ok, so I had my GSA Pro installed not long after they became available in the Western Cape. And why I am mentioning it is purely to state that I have had it for quite some time and not even once have I had an issue with it.

So I took my bike in for the 20000 km service two weeks ago and I was told that new software will be downloaded on the bike which directly relates to the GSA Pro.

I was a bit sceptic as I strongly believe in if something works, leave it alone. However I was pleasently surprised when I got back in the saddle and started shifting, wow I dont think I can even change gears as smoothly by using the clutch.

Now I am impressed. Thank you BMW.

Did BMW contact you guys to get the upgrade done, or was it done during a normal service?

it's not a five minute job.

they just do it next time your bike is in the shop for a service.

it takes up the work bench and it takes a while, due to the fact that all the bikes software is reloaded, so takes an hour or two.

then they run the bike until the fan starts.  (bike must be at running temp), they then run through the gears a few times on the bench.

no cost.
