alternative to highway pegs

On our way down to CT in April, I put my feet up on the crashbars, the bit that's parallel to the head. My boots would eventually slip off, as that part of the crashbar is not level exactly...the pic will explain. So, before we came back I got this idea-see pic. It's actually quite comfortable to sit like this, Harley style if you will. I want to put some of the copper pipe insulation on the crashbar, because your ankle starts feeling it after a while. Was it not for that, Ikd easily do even a 1000km on a day..I think.
