Pitty Haboob posted the warning on my planning a ride thread , that scared all the wannabees away , The Cederberg recovers so quickly , and the road conditions were not at all what he mensioned .
You cant compare a cars riding to a bike,
Our bikes dont feel potholes , the way cars do , and the mud monster ,well  must have gone home !

So , it was Fuzzy Muzzy and me,

Looking down on Citrusdal

Although my fingers froze in the morning and it two cups of coffee at the Spur in Picketberg to thaw my finger tips out, the dirt road conditions were absolutely fantastic.

No mud to talk about, hard packed well ridden but moist dirt.
Lekker grip , and little dust this morning.

We got to Picketberg at 08h55 and hit the Spur for Coffee for the fingers and a quick breakfast,
Then it was a quick stop in Citrusdal for a fuel top up, and we were off.
That first piece of gravel road is always potholed , but wasnt too bad today.
I have been down there in way worse than that,

Not a breath of wind in the water

Hardly any mud to mension and lekker gravel through the citrus tree orchard section, then on through Niewoudspas, Algeria,Uitkykpas, all the way to Sanddrift,

Just over Uitkyk pass the road is a bit washed away , but after that the taps were open,

NO LOOSE SAND, it was like someone resurfaced and compacted the road.

Fuzzy mensioned I wasnt going fast enough , so the next time he saw me , I was in Maatjies River on the Bridge chatting ti Flatout , who had come the other way to meet us there.

FUZZY MUZZY

Looking back on Niewoudspass

Selfie !

Looking up towards Uitkyk Pass

Uitkyk Pass looking down over Algeria

The Maatjies river wasnt even a foot deep , so we took turns of ridding through and taking pics.

FLATOUT

And Chantal`s T Bones at Oasis , were the best I have ever had there before.

Thanks Muz for a WICKED RIDE TODAY , it was just what I needed !

Sounds like you had a lekker ride Andy.
How I miss those roads. When I were living down there I did not appreciate what I had on my doorstep. Probably been through the Cederberg 10 times ,got spoiled and did not bother anymore. How I wish I could ride those roads again.
Lekker spirited ride is the best  :thumleft:

Sorry if I spoiled it for some of the guys. That was not what I had in mind.

I'm just glad you had an awesome ride, and I was wrong!

Lekker Andy, it was a good day and even though it was the shortest day of the year, we all had a lot of fun.

And finally a photo of myself! Well done  ;D

What a lekker ride I had to miss, the flu is killing me.

As some know I have been quiet and not had much time to get out there and do much by teh way of longer rides, I have just been on the plastic most of the time

I decided to get up at 6am and look out the window, if I saw stars I would go, if it was raining I would get back into bed .

STARS !!!

I thought I overdressed a bit cos I was catching a sweat getting prepped and bike out the garage but as soon as we set off i realised it was a good thing.. the wind was a bit chilly.

It has been a long time since I rode a bike and just grinned from ear to ear, the roads were fantastic and allowed us to open the throttle a bit and give it the beans.

thanks Andy.. great pace, good company and bugger me, how nice were those T bones.

I dont often give shout outs but Oasis, you okes put some big brands in the food & grill industry to shame.

Baa ha, no dude, when we stopped we both  took pics so mine are pretty much the same. I am glad we stopped to take pics, usually going there we just haul it through, we stopped a few times, the day was just stunning, the rain kept the dust down. By 12:30 I had to shed a layer as it was actually quite warm.

I can tell you this, if you were following us in a bakkie, good freaking luck, you MAY have gotten there by nightfall, the roads were nice but only for adventure bikes.. everything else would kuk off, there was everything from potholes to corrigation.. but for us okes it just adds to grin factor.

Hope your leg is healing up bud.
