Well done Brian and Charrise.  I was a bit worried that those sand sections could cause you two some troubles, but it shows you, it is not always the equipment that matters, if the rider is capable then you can tackle it.  Well done.

I will bring Francois along one day to meet your daughter ... :laughing4:

Some from me............... First pic, my kind of art at the coffee stop at Bronkhorstspruit Dam.
The last pic was taken on my way home between Bapsfontein and Irene.

Thanks to Catchy and Wiledog-X for the XR-lent foties!!
I haven't finished the RR.. I stopped for a coffee and that is when Mrs Airguitar Whatsapped to tell me to take out the trash, drive Miss Guitar to piano lessons, etc. so we made a dad and daughter day of it and went for breakfast, took a drive to Springs(Long story!!) etc..

SO... there we were.. at the gate.. first coffee stop was in sight. Bronkies dam was visible on the right and a bit of tarmac to calm Woody and Brian and Cherise's nerves after the soft stuff..  >:D

We sat at the main junction and waited  for the group.. Some took a wrong turn or two but there's only one way through here so it was just a matter of time..
GIF Alert!!

GIF it a chance to load

A few more shots I found taken at the gate..

For some reason I cannot find the shots for the ride to Red Star. However it was more dirt. Fast and hard.
We stopped for fuel on the Highway just east of RSR. After that some tar bck to the race track for some refreshments and a chow..

Scanning for a gap in the fence to take the hiway back to RSR..

Found it!!

The most undesirable section of the ride,, Ugh..

GIF my china...

Even more..

There were some XR's there too..

Back to the time line:-
We left RSR and some people elected to take the freeway to meet other commitments. Seven of us soldiered on to complete the ride

More dirt and wide grins.. Lots of GIF's here..

I waved the guys on and took the rear guard a bit..

It looks like a desert out here..

We stopped at the tar crossing for a breather.. GIF alert..

One oke sukkeling to start the bike, the other oke showing off.. Dogs...

Catchy took the lead and picked up the pace.. I had to work to keep up.. LEK-KER!!!!! (GIF!!)

See what I mean?

Got him..

This last strip of road was really rough. At some point we stopped again to let the guys catch up. An old toppie farmer approached us and asked if we'd seen any horses running loose. Unfortunately we hadn't. I took his number in case we did but sadly we didn't see them. Hope he found them.. He was quite distressed about it.

As I said before.. Fast, wide, dusty roads. These werethe hardest. Very rough and bouncy. We had to hang on and gooi it!!

Bouncy bouncy bouncy WHEEEE!!

Waiting to tackle the final stage.. Treinspoor!!

This is the road to Sentrarand shunting yards.. Let's go...

The tweespoor that leads to the treinspoor..

Here we go, doing the locomotion!

Fun stuff!!

Most didn't....

I DID!

Finally back to the Bapsfontein road, where we rode back to the start, for some cold beers and pizza..
Wide grins abound!!

Umm.. make that DIRTY, wide grins!!

Winner of a free XR-Fest sticker for travelling the longest distance to join us.. All the way from Hekpoort! Frozen as a popsicle!!

Finale:-
This ride was my first as a Wild Dog member. It was so good to meet so many great people from so many walks of life, and yet we were all one and as one. It proves that the Forum is absolutely valid and effective in promoting adventure biking in our beautiful country. If we can enjoy Gauteng and Mpumalanga Highveld, we can enjoy anything. And enjoy it we did!
Thank you to every one who made it to come ride with us. You guys made it what it was! 150km of big, wide, dirty grinning!!

PS, Next time let's have double the number. I still have stickers!!

Thanks for organising an awesome ride. Will arrange a Loskop dam ride sometime , leaving from Benoni area along railway service roads up to Cullinan and then onto Loskop.
Nice ride on Sunday...my crazy KTM friends make me feel old and slow on their rides !!!
Everyone knows the saying " a day without wine is like a day without sunshine"  Truely applicable but as important - a day without my bike is like a day without sunshine !!!

Thanx guys for accepting an iceman from the west to ride with you.

I must say I can stand a bit of cold, but I did not feel so cold in a long time as on Sunday, surely to do with the XT not having much of a screen to keep the wind out.

Herewith the few photos I shot:

And then the coffee shop @ Bronkies dam.

What about a trade in on an XR ?? Inspect/Respect for the old timers

This fireplace was my livesaver for the day, eventually I warmed up after this.

And then at the end again, all save and dors.

Lunch at Red Star

Each day is a present, don't send it back unopened.

Airguitar, Thanks for organising a great ride, I'm sorry I missed the second half.

Next one's on me - 24th August to Val for brunch and back. Who's in?

Nicobie, you are a star! Not many would ride that far and stick with us that long but you did! It was everything a ride should be. Including too little, too short and too few.
I'm looking forward to hearing about a Loskop ride...
