What rubber for a bike with a side car?
« on: June 24, 2014, 12:55:01 pm »
I have recently bought a R60/6 that came with a side card.

I want to bolt the rig onto my project bike .. a R100 I'm converting into a scrambler.
I want to go for an aggressive look, and have been thinking of using Bridgestone Trailwings as my tyre choice.
it appears now that rigs with side cars need rubber designed for this use ... correct?
If so, what would you suggest?

Best person to speak to will be Humfree from sidecar Africa. Ural have tyres that are made specifically for sidecars. Another one I have found is Heidendau K28 which are a sidecar tyre, think its an 18" but dont know if its available in SA.

Any answers you get, please share.

Humfree, thanks for your offer.
I would appreciate the manual & will contact you when next in GP.
I first want to restore the side car before mount the rig.

Regarding the tires, the K28 looks very road orientated.
Is there a dirt orientated tire you would suggest?

Hi Kev

That is a Velorex Sidecar - I have one on my Jawa as well.

It has a 16inch as standard, hard to find decent rubber. i put this on my sidecar:

Kenda k262

Works like a charm

Let me know if you would like a 18 inch rim, i have one, plus spare brake system
