Just saw this on the ADV Rider thread - Juan Pedrero keeping it pinned, straight through a double caution just 70m from the start on the final stage of Maroc this morning.... Jassus!!!

I was wondering how to change a tyre with mousse. The answer seems to be - get a longer tyre lever.

Wow! That's some impressive work. You'd have thought he'd have lubed them up while he was in there! ;)

We've got 2 Quads entered into Dakar 2015.
This years L1 (Brian Baragwanath) and L3 (Hannes Saaijman) - both very talented riders and also able to work on their quads should they encounter problems. Both of them are exceptional riders and stand a good chance of WINNING the Dakar ! Let's support our guys going !

From Riaan via FB:
"Been back to Morocco for my preparation for Dakar 2015. Riding the New Broadlink KTM 450 Rally. Bike is completely new and nothing like the previous model. Lots of hard work and development has gone into getting this bike to where it is today. Had a small problem during the rally, but very glad it happened now and not at Dakar. This is why most of the top teams go to this rally. Very good to test your equipment and do some setup changes. Now I have to put my head down and start focusing on Dakar. The pace is really fast up front and need to hone up on my navigation."

Interesting to see that he has replaced the top left Speedocap with an RNS Tripmeter, so he has RNS primary and spare. He still has an ICO switch on the spare though.

To finish first, you first have to finish. They'll be up against chaps with years of ralley experience.

I'm not deflating their bubble here, all the the best to them!

Via FB:
"D-5 for ‪#‎Merzouga2014‬. D<80 for ‪#‎Dakar2015‬.
What we can see here is John's bike which is ready to be shipped from Australia to France.....
John will be using the unique failsafe roadbook control system, which is developed in collaboration with Highway Dirt Bikes. The roadbook holder is the 'alpha 1' version, featuring updates parts and a new cartridge, which allows more flexibility.
New ''notes'' accessory will also be tested. This, simple, accessory allows riders to have their notes on the top of the roadbook and having two sides it means that more information can be written in the ''note'' accessory!..."

That is one seriously sexy roadbook, with even sexier thumb switches.
All being well, if the stars align and the courier service delivers on time, we should see one bike running this RB+switch at Amageza.  :peepwall:

You think? ;D Those thumb switches look really cool. You will see the one I currently have. Lasts only until the first lowside to the left. :imaposer:

Interesting picture of the Honda rally bike, showing their carbon fibre tower construction.
The blue box is the Iritrack, which looks a bit smaller than in previous years, I think?
i am not sure what the yellow container is under the PI of PIAA?

I must say, for me personally, the Honda rally bikes are the best looking machines. Would love to take one for a spin.

The Katooms look too much like a 1190 or V-Strom.

True story, but the KTM factory says the bikes changed because the riders requested the clear fairings for better visibility when standing.

Yes, I would imagine that is actually quite an advantage. You cannot see the near foreground on a rally bike sitting down.

From Wessel via FB:  :o

"They said one must try everything in life...so, I took a short ride in an ambulance....and the 1190 KTM have to be serviced... The F250 look much better than an ambulance and the 450 Rally Replica slower and better around corners... It is better to stay focus and learn from mistakes...nobody needs to take a ride in an ambulance...it is no fun...and they drive very slow.  THANKS to the people in the ambulance...they were fantastic...and everybody dont worry, this was a big wake-up call, but I will be at the Dakar and thank God every second for that!"

I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
I shall not injure myself before Dakar.
