I had the BMW S1000R for the day while they fitted my exhaust and quick shifter.  not a bad loan bike from Ryder, very nice bike, acceleration and brakes incredible, i took it down the south coast for a nice run.  that put a smile on my face,

,,,,,,,,,,, BUT that quickshifter and exhaust, so much fun and what a great majestic sound, as it works up through the gearbox with the throttle open and back down again through the gears with it closed.  incredible!!

the 110 km ride home in the dark and pouring rain was really good - did not stop to put rain gear on, i was playing all the way home.

if you haven't done it you have to do it, i am still smiling this morning.

In general in my case, I have noticed some likes and dislikes:

-Pull off and use clutch to second,
-Use clutch to third otherwise when you change your foot normally jumps on the peg, I suppose you also loose extra rubber that way,
-4, 5 and 6 plain sailing but sounds the best at about 4000 rpm as it barks as you change gears, especially with my akro on. But in general it changes, sounds and feels better on the higher part of the rev counter
-When gearing down high revs are the best, sometimes when to low it actually jumps.

I don't know if the other dudes are experiencing the same, I am not complaining I am purely saying how my scooterjie likes to be tuned! O0

QS cuts the fuel so you can change UP.

If you change gears down with out the clutch, the gearbox will take it, but not for long.

Everyone I spoke to during the years said quickshifter is for gearing up only and not for down.

Its the same with a car. To gear up without using clutch is not a problem, try gearing down and you need to force it in.

Is the BMW one now different or what? Or did they just not tell you guys that?

Maybe I'm wrong, reason I'm asking  :thumleft:

Even when I gear down the motor braaap, almost like we use to ride our bikes in the old days, we use to call it double clutch (but just the throttle) So I can almost say that it was desined for gearing down as well.

"The system supports downshifts with an open throttle, but the shift quality is influenced by sudden or jerky throttle-on and throttle-off changes in lower gears"

I don't agree, quick shifter unloads the drive train just like you do when pulling clutch and closing throttle. Should be safe to use up and down......

Yip. Dit is so ja.
