Chaps three things that I have found on my KTM 640 adv engine that might be worthwhile checking out. Confirmed through some research that these are in fact weak points.

1. Balancer shaft bearings are small and the spinning eccentric weight puts a big load on these. Both mine were worn and the casings damaged due to the balancer rubbing against the casing. Small job, cheap and easy to replace these. You will need some basic hand tools and an internal bearing extractor.

2. Cam shaft followers. Check and inspect these for wear. Also a simple job however bearings are expensive. Better to replace these during periodic maintenance rather than a camshaft when these do pack in

3. Water pump bearing and seal. Also not difficult and a good preventative measure.

All these were worn on my engine. Thank goodness that I opted for the engine rebuild.
