Day 3:

a Rest day and tons of food and spoiling from mom...  :3some:
We did take a short 45km drive into the country-side via Meets... a trip down memory lane for me :( to the sad remains of the old house on the farm Dardanellis where I grew-up...  :'(
Those were the days....

Day 4 (Monday):

After breakfast we had a great ride from Bethlehem mostly via gravel roads to Clarens. The views - even in winter is spectacular!  The gravel roads though is generally in a poor state....  :eek7:
We stopped at the Ashriver Tunnel outlet - beautifull to see and hear that water on its way to Gauteng!!  8)
In Clarens we enjoyed the homebrew beer at the Highlander (well some of us  ::) ) ...
Then it was off to Golden Gate and its breathtaking views, we even saw Zebras and Blue Wildebeest...
The water in the Langtoondam seems to be in a poor state...  :(
On the way to Qwa Qwa we took a gravel road around the park and back to Bethlehem - now that road hasn't seen re-gravelling in decades!!  >:( Was fun though.... for some of us....
Skolla almost invested in some land....  :peepwall: Back to Bethlehem; filled up the bikes and started packing for the Lesotho part the next day... One last great "braai" and off to bed....

Day 5:

We left Bethlehem around 9:00, giving the sun a chance to heat-up a bit....  :deal:
Had some breakfast at Fouriesburg Hotel and re-fuelled...
Entered Lesotho at Caledonspoort - smooth... :bueller: Headed for Motholong and SANI - Lesotho was the usual duck-a-dive and suvival of the fittest....  :patch:
The Chinese roadworks is really something to appreciate - no stop/go'es, just survival again.... :eek7:
Roadsigns consists of some paint on rocks...  :P
Re-fuelling in Motholong was plain scary - to say the least!!!  :eek7: :eek7:
We stopped between here and SANI and made coffee and enjoyed some "padkos"....  :3some:
The closer we got to SANI the more interesting/daring the roadworks became...
We arrived at SANI Top just before 5pm, but had to make time for a drink at the pub - before hurrying out before the border posts close at 6pm. As we got onto the tar at Himeville - it was dark, and we still had about 150k's to Richmond. Everything went smooth, but 20k's before Richmond the DR's front sprocket completely stripped...  :patch: :eek7: We went into "limp-mode", and miraculously made Richmond and Skolla's son's place 5k's outside of town...We were 3 tired adventurers, but also filled with a lot of astonishment at what we've seen and experienced that day!!!  O0
The beverages provided that evening were extremely welcome and appreciated!!!  :snorting:  ;)

Day 6.

The only day the bikes didn't move... ::)
We borrowed Skolla's son's bakkie and went to Pietermaritzburg for a sprocket and some supplies.
Fortunately Suzuki in PMB had a sprocket in stock!!  :thumleft:
Back home we fitted the sprocket and the DR was ready to roll again!!
Rest of the day just some chilling and a "lekker" braai....  :ricky:

Day 7...

We went for a "lekker" 200k ride through the Natal Midlands ... beautifull scenery and roads!!!
Stopped at "Nip Inn" for an early lunch and something to wash down the dust... The weather around here was great for winter - just some nasty winds....

Day 8 saw us left "earlyish" for a rather long stint from Richmond to Elliot on a 33.3/33.3/33.3 mix of tar; gravel and construction/goats/unroadworthy vehicles etc WITH LOTS OF DUST .....

Plan was to have a "prost" on Glen on the Bastervoet, but as we stopped in Ugie for some "Hunters Extreme's", we noticed that Skolla had a puncture in the 150 Heidi on the rear of "Trompie"....  ::) His bag even had a green slime-stripe from behind....  :imaposer:
We found a tyre repair shop - but in the end Skolla and Baked Beans did most of the work themselves in the dust....  :patch: We fitted a new tube (which was a bit small...  :deal:), as a patch on a tube that was filled with slime previously does not last!! :deal: The owner was decent at least and didn't charge Skolla for the pathetic personnel's "work" - even fitted a gator free of charge to the Heidi  :thumleft:

As it was too late now, we managed to find some decent rooms at the "Kiepersol" - with the advantage of having the Sport Club just up the street. Nice stay; meal and drinks - just watch out for the sewerage running down some streets!  :eek7:

My ergste lus vir bike ry is nou eers oor  :ricky:
