Day 9....

We left Ugie early with just a coffee in the old stomach....  :sip:
We took the gravel road to the right and rode to the start of Bastervoet - there we just had a Hunters Extreme toast on Glen, remembering the good times and laughs we had there a few years ago....  :(
We continued on the gravel to 20 odd k's from Elliot. Refuelled in Elliot and rode to the Guest place where The Wanderer used to work - pretty sad state now....  :( At least we got some Ricoffy and 2 slices of toast each just with butter - it helped a lot, and the total bill was just R30!!  :thumleft:
As we rode to Queenstown the weather just kept on deteriorating - strong chilly crosswinds and the sky partly cloudy...
In Queenstown we had a decent meal at the Wimpy, and left for Hogsback - the rain threatening...  :peepwall:
At some huge and beautifull dam on the way, the rain finally started. We stopped and put on our rain suits... some of us....  ::)
The last 40 or so kays to Hogsback was gravel - becoming more and more slippery as we continued in the rain...
Finally Hogsback - I was looking for only two things:
1. a Fire !!!
2.  OBS and more...  :snorting:

We found it and enjoyed it thoroughly till late...  :o
Accommodation was nowhere to be found as we asked around in the place - but a friendly lady also "kuiering" there offered us an old granny-flat on her farm/plot 2k's outside of town - we gladly excepted!!  :3some:
Boy, the people are really friendly in Hogsback!!!
We left late - after a decent meal and Skolla showing that his charm is just so irresistable....  :eek7: :patch: :pot:
Luckily the old granny-flat had a fire already going when we arrived - so at least we had a hot and dry rest that night....  :snorting:

Hi Schalck

Dit is n alkohol burner wat ek by Arms and tackle hier op George gekoop het. Dit is n windskerm met twee potte en n pan/deksel. Ek glo jy sal dit by by ander kamp en buitelug winkels kry of search net vir alcohol burners. As jy nie reg kom nie, kan ek kyk of hulle nog van die stowe hier het en dan kan ons n plan maak.  :thumleft:

Day 10...

Xxtremely cold !!! :sleepy3: :sleepy3:
XR's choke cable was frozen and the DR's throttle cables frozen stiff too!!! :eek7:
Triumph too hot to even freeze...  :pottytrain5:  BUT it had a flat in the rear - AGAIN !!!  :xxbah:
We coasted the 2k's to Hogsback's little filling station - fixed the punctyre there - in the freezing temperatures...  ::)
All the puddles and mud of the previous day's rain were frozen!!!  :o
Then it was basically a boring long day on tar - fighting the icy wind!!! In Adelaide we bought suspect burgers from a little suspect Kiosk at the filling station - we were hungry!!!  ::)
At 14:30 we were in Jansenville... Skolla wanted to push the Triumph a bit on tar to be home before dark, but me and BB with the thumpers decided to take gravel to Willowmore and sleep there at some friends on a farm 20k's outside...
So we greeted...  :(
But, me and BB first had some decent coffee and chocolate cake at the Noorsveld Coffee shop...  :thumleft: :thumleft:
The two of us arrived in Willowmore just before dark - each with half a dozen foreign missed calls on our phones...  :-\
BB phoned the number back - Policeman answered .... :o :o :o
Fortunately it was just a flat on Skolla's side - AGAIN !!!  :xxbah: :xxbah: 8)
We waited for him in Willowmore at the Engen. Apparently 20k's outside Steytlerville on the concrete road the rear went flat again - peace of rusted wire... No reception of course - no more air-bombs - no more patience - police stopped at him and actually guarded him!!!   (THANK YOU GUYS/GALS IN BLUE - REALLY APPRECIATE!!!!!!!)  :thumleft:
They also organised a lift for him and the bike on an old KB280DT to Willowmore - 600 bucks...  :thumleft:
Meanwhile I've organised with our friend the farmer to fetch him and the bike from the Engen in Willowmore...
So we were all together once more....  O0
Next day our friend (KTM rider  ;) - shows you hey...) took Skolla back to George... THANKS SAKKIE AND FAMILY FOR GOING THE EXTRA 10 MILES FOR US !!! :thumleft: :thumleft:
And they treated us to a fantastic steak braai that evening too!!!  :3some:
...and then we treated the kids with our Lion's roar snoring....  :lol8: :snorting:

And so the time has arrived to write the last chapter in this little ride report...
The question has been asked many times on this forum why so few ride reports and so much talking sh%t...?The answer is "vultures" and "clicks -mafia - snobs" ....
It takes time (EVEN MONEY) and a lot of effort to write a reasonable ride report - and often it's a pain and sometimes even dangerous to try and take representative pictures of a trip - yet you get hundreds op people that takes it for granted - check out your pics etc. - but cannot take 5sec's to click reply and a "thumbs up' or just a "middle finger"...  ::)
SO, TO THE MERE DOZEN OR SO PEOPLE THAT DID SAY SOMETHING - THANKS FOR YOUR HONESTY AND SPORTSMANSHIP - MUCH OBLIGED!!!  :thumleft: :thumleft:
To the rest - GO FIGURE, or just buy a magazine for R30+ next time and read the same sponsored person's stories over and over again .... ::)
