On a recent dirt trip my R80GS decided to act up and show her disappointment. Was a relatively bumpy and dusty ride. After approximately 100km and a short stop, when i turn ignition and in neutral, she idles and purrs quite happily. As soon as i engage her in 1st gear and pull away, she goes for 2 m, and cut's out. Tried pulling away in 2nd as well, and same symptoms. Shortly after pulling away and clutch completely released, cuts out.
Eventually none of the lights would appear on the panel, but after i removed the petrol tank and fiddled with the electrics, neutral, oil and battery lights luckily reappeared. (dead now as we speak, but must be a loose connection somewhere) 3.5 hours later stuck next to the road, bike was towed and back in the garage.
Any idea's what could cause this issue and what to check for will be appreciated.
