Okay, I know what I said but I'm weak and I fall into the same trap repeatedly.

I picked up a 1980 R80 today. Ok, so it was close to a 600km round trip to collect it but it was a day out with the missus to the Free State......redneckville delux!!! Roxy (my Fiance) and I were debating whether Gerda was his wife or sister....or both and if Piet Junior was Piet Senior's son or nephew or both   :lol8:    .....so we were bored and these things come to mind after leaving a place like we'd just been.

The up sides:
- The bike hasn't been crashed
- The bike is COMPLETE with exception to one of the carb intake tubes and a battery...as far as I can tell.
- It's cost me R4000.00 plus fuel to collect so far.
- There is a box that looks like it has all the nuts and bolts and stuff in it.
- It's got a two into one pipe that looks to be very nice and very unusual. The headers come together and run back under the right cylinder. It's then got a pretty neat looking silencer with a bit of a slash cut end.

The down sides:
- Some master builder in this poor bikes past was VERY fond of silver paint!! It's all over EVERYTHING!!!! Alternator, motor, points, tyres, rims, spokes, disks....EVERYTHING.
- Who knows how many km are on the bike. It reads something like 08283. Most likely turned over. Piet assures me that it was running fine but then they wanted to turn it into a cafeeee raaaaccccer and that kinda how it's been lying in the shed for five years.
- Piet had assured me that the papers and the license are up to date. He proudly presents to me the current license which is current (great) and the registration document (that says 'Certificate of License' on the top). So it took some time to explain to Piet that this was not the 'Certificate of Registration'. After some debate, he agreed to go get a copy from the registration department and I'd keep R1000.00 back to as an incentive. So hopefully, I see it in the post soon. He did say he'd send it speed post. I guess the sooner I get it, the sooner he gets his bucks.

I don't yet know what is in store for this bike. I probably won't get all creative with this one. Most likely build a single seat scrambler, similar to my previous KZ400. But it will have a permanent tube luggage rack on the back that I can fit a seat onto if Roxy want to come with me on a ride.

Here are some picks:
