Would You Buy a LC Again!!!
« on: July 30, 2014, 11:16:49 pm »
My dealer just called - a new LC in my colour has arrived and I have first dibs!!!

Would you buy a 1200 LC adventure again if you could???

Would you wait for next year - key less ignition and slipper clutch.

Finance is not the issue.

The issue is - if you have a 2011 BMW 1200 Adv with 17000ks on the clock in perfect condition  - Scotts Dampner, panniers, Zumo 660 plus all the other normal add ons - would you buy a new LC????

For those that have owned a air cooled 1200 Adv - would you do it again?? Upgrade to a 1200 Adv LC???????

Cheers.

The LC had anti-hopping clutch from the start. Or is that not what you meant by "slipper clutch"?

But to answer your question... yes, I would!

Thanks Oom D for the reply.

Have been looking on overseas websites as well for info, most seem happy with the bike.

I am hoping to get input from guys who owned the 2012 DOHC Adv and now have bought a LC Adv - comparing the 2 bikes to each other.

Is it more nimble, is it taller or is it lower????

More comfortable, smoother, less vibration etc etc.

Any input and info appreciated.

Cheers.

In your imagination, compare a donkey to a race horse.

Said donkey is an excellent donkey.  Well bred, hard working, beautiful, perfect in every way.

AMZ - thanks for reply.

Donkey to race horse.

That good a step up then.

Have had 2 Adv's - a 2009 and then a 2011 - both good bikes, but cart horse'ish if I may say so.

Am hoping for a "lighter" feel, more nimble, smoother power, smoother ride.

Height - is it higher than the previous Adventures?

I hopped on the 1200 Adv when at my dealer the other day, coming from an 800 I must say - SHIT THAT THING IS FAT.

I couldnt believe how dik the front was even compared to my 800 that isnt small by any means.

but I suppose for anyone coming from a 1200 it looks pretty normal doesnt it.

still see myself riding one in the future  :imaposer:

just have to be extra careful if lane splitting etc.

good luck with the decision!

PS:  I couldnt imagine you being disappointed with it, looks a beast to me!
Regards,

Sheldyn

The 2015 has keyless and GSAP, the quickshifter that which can fit to your bike now.

O, and the 2015 GS has the same flywheel as the GSA with added weight for more torque as well as extra dampening between engine and gearbox for less vibration.

Buy one now.

Keyless is the only extra feature that you cant get now. But is it worth an extra R15000 ? No

I was reluctant to change, but dont look back at all, its an awesome bike!

I had air cooled GSs and now have a GS LC, not the adv.

If you want more gadgets wait for the 2020 model, apparently it gonna be awesome!

The LC is much more refined if compared to the oilheads.

It's almost like a Honda :lol8:
