There are a few threads on the AM on WDs, ADV rider and the BMW club forums:

The AM is redesigned for every specific model. The new LC has a different AM to the 1200GS. A combination of components tricks the ECU in thinking that it is 20C lower than ambient temperature, but the values change closer to 0 c to compensate for the cold.

Thanks the SAPO strike a huge consignment of AM's are lying at witspos. I hope to get them soon.

I've been using one for a few years. Very happy with the results. Main benefit was smoother throttle control with small bonuses being slightly better acceleration and fuel consumption.

I don't think it gives the bike "more power"...

Nope.  I does not give more power and the manufacturers and distributors don't claim that either.   It does give quicker and smoother throttle response and makes the bike more pleasurable to ride.  I also found slow maneuvers much easier and easier to control.  Never rode my 09 model without it.

The original module for the KTM was tested by myself on a 10 000 km Easter trip in 2010.

The AM is realy worth it. The bike pulls much smoother and better from pull-away. My only regret is that 2 weeks after I bought it, I discovered that Jacobsroot AM is about 40% cheaper than the other supplier.
