Seems like interesting developments in the local racing scene. Got the below email from the GOC team.

I think it has a lot to do with the success of events like the Farm Jams in Middelburg, where you do not need a license ect.

GOC CLUB
The GOC Club is proud to announce that there will be a full GOC series of racing for 2015.
The new series for next year will be known as the “Grand National Harescramble Championship” or in short GNHC RACING.
Adolf Botes will be retiring from the GOC club in 2015. We thank him for all the hard work he has done for the GOC club and for the sport. We wish him the best of luck for his future endeavours.
There will be a lot of changes for 2015.
First of all I would like to get feedback from all riders and pit crew on what you like and dislike. Please email them to me [email protected]

ENTRY SYSTEM
Entries will work as always, online.
There will also be a manual option where you can download the entry form on the website and fax or mail them to us.
We will keep entries open for online entry until 12pm every Thursday night before an event there after entries will still be open for any manual entries up until Saturday morning.
NB to avoid long queues please enter before Saturday.
Each rider will be issued a race number for the day. That race number MUST be on your bike/quad you will be scored according to that number. If you don’t have the correct number on your bike/quad you won’t be scored.

MSA / WOMZA / NONE LICENSE HOLDERS
• You don’t need any license to come and enjoy GOC racing for 2015. Everyone is welcome.
• GOC Membership still entitles you to discount at selected sponsors eg. Factory Racing, EMD, Portable Shade, Sign Wonder, Inxon.
• The only requirement will be proof of your medical aid.
• There will be no discrimination against any affiliation.

STARTING ORDER
There will be no starting order.
You will start in your class in mass starts. This means that everyone has got the same fighting chance whether you have points on the board or not.
The other benefit of this system is that we can still accept entries up until Saturday morning.
On Saturday morning at riders briefing the top rider in each class will be asked to draw a number out of a box this number will determine in what row that rider’s class will start. For example if the top OR 1 rider pull out number 2 the top Ladies rider pull out number 1 and the top Senior rider pull out number 3 for the Pro group then they will start in their mass start groups in the following order First ladies followed by the OR1 class and then by the Senior class. There will be a sufficient dust gap between each class. Between two and five minutes depending on the length of the specific track. The Gate selection is first come first serve. Line up sections for each class will be indicated. The length of the first start row will be determined by the conditions of the track’s starting point.

Saturday
• Quads will still race first. Quads will race from 8:00am to 11:00am.
• Senior bikes Pro will race from 11:00am to 14:00pm.
• Senior bikes Semi-Pro will race from 14:00pm to 16:00pm.
NB If you are late for your class’ mass start we will not wait.

SUNDAY
• Junior - Senior will race from 9:00am to 11:00am.
• Junior- Junior will race from 10:00am to 11:30am.
NB If you are late for your class’ mass start we will not wait.

THE RACE
All classes will have a dead engine start.
You will be allowed to warm up the engine 2 minutes before the start of your class.
You will then be asked to switch of your engine get of the bike/quad “still holding on to it” a whistle or gunshot will then go off to start the race.
• No more confusion between red and green robots and no more jump start issues…
• Senior Bikes will be divided into two groups. (Pro and Semi-pro)
• Senior Quads will have one group.
• Juniors will have two groups.
• Junior – Juniors and Junior – Seniors.
We will race on time and not on laps. What this means is that for each group there will be a certain amount of time given. Each rider must try and do as many laps as possible the rider with the most laps and the best time over that lap wins the race.
If the time is set for example at senior pros for three hours racing and the first rider comes in 3 seconds before cut-off he will have to go out for another lap. If the rider breaks down on his last lap he will still win the race because he was still the rider with the fastest time.
• Senior bikes Pro will race for 3 hours.
• Senior bikes Semi-pro will race for 2 hours.
• Quads will race for 3 hours.
• Juniors - Juniors will race for 1.30 hours.
• Junior – Seniors will race for 2 hours.
• Track distance will vary between 25 and 40 km.
We will try and keep the speed down as much as possible it will not be as difficult as Enduro and not as fast as Off Road.
Where it becomes too difficult for the juniors and quads to go, we will have an alternative bypass route.

ROUTE
Riders will be allowed to Pre-Run the route the day before the race on non-motorised transport such as a bicycle. Walking/Running is preferred.

PITS
• No pit bikes or scooter type transportation will be allowed.
• No riding and warm up of bikes/quads will be allowed in pit area.
• The pit layout will stay the same. The only difference will be at the start of the pit lane, there will be a shortcut back into the race line for riders that don’t need to refuel. This means that there will be much less traffic and dust in the pits.

TIME KEEPING
• Transponders and a light beam system will be used.
• There will also be a manual backup system.
• It is every rider’s responsibility not to lose his/her Transponder.
• It is every rider’s responsibility to ensure that he/she has the correct race number on their bike/quad.
• NB! If your Transponder is lost or your race number is incorrect you will not be scored.

SCORING
We will work on the 400 point scoring system. This means if you come first in your class you get 1 point if you are 15th in your class you get 15 points etc.
The benefit of this system is that everybody that starts the race and finishes one lap gets points you just need to finish one lap to be classified as a finisher.
Trophies will be given to the top 6 in every championship class.
To qualify for a Championship class there must be more than 10 entries per event for all events.
Where there are less than 10 race entries only the top 3 riders will be awarded trophies.
Everyone that finishes at least one lap will get a finishers medal.
