So,,,,, after being assured that a 2000 km round trip to collect a used bike ( yes, from a fellow dog ) will absolutely be worth my while,,,,

Advert includes the following: Aftermarket fork and shock springs.
Long range tank - repaired but does not leak.
Starts easily, runs nicely and goes like stink.

The verdict: Forks and shock pissing oil.
Long range tank leaks like a sieve.
Inlet valve and seat so badly worn, that it over fuels and refuses to start.
Gudgeon pin rattles in the piston.
Front rim cracked, welded and seriously fucked.
                  Rear rim buckled to shit.
Swing arm bearings and bushes totally buggered.
                  Vapour instrument fucked.

Remedy:  Engine overhaul.
Re-build rear shock and do front fork seals.
Repair long range tank ( correctly )
New front and rear rim + spokes.
New bushes and needle bearings - swing arm.
              New trailtech vapour instrument.

Price:      +/- R 23000-00 + purchase price.  ( R 34000-00 )
Value:      +/- R 35000-00. ( after repairs )

Outcome:  I'll have seriously cool 15 year old scooter for a long time to come.

Moral of the story:  I'm sure there is one somewhere, but I'm not going to look for it.

Guess it's never too late in life to learn.

No, I will not " name and shame ". Think that's not a cool thing to do.
