Bikes can be replaced and there will be another Amageza next year, the important thing is you are still here from your family and to ride with us

Man that helmet looks bad..looks like you used it to stop!

All things considered it could have been a lot worse I suppose. Your guardian angel certainly did his thing.

What the prognosis now and how are you feeling a few days into it?

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Joey.

I came on you a few mins after the incident. Brian was tending to you at the time and the calf I was told suffered broken leg(s). Your bike didn't look good. It was on a stoney gravel section and not the softer sand found in much of the rest of the ride - not that that would have changed the outcome. Hitting a cow at speed is bound to end in tears. There were scattered bushes shielding cattle and goats much of the way. I had three OMG moments with cattle suddenly bolting. The calfs were the most skittish and bacame alarmed with loud pipes. You were in good care and Dallie had great support all the way.

Hope your injuries heal well. Hope to see you back next year in full force.

PS. I didn't know there were any dogs on that event.

I can see the real cause of the accident. the number 47.
Now if you had a no 46!! on there you would of probably just flipped the bike over the cow and landed on your rear wheel again and jaaagt off saying, OMG That was Close!!! (in best Italian accent) We all know Rossi's number gets us outa the shit fast.

Don't write me off yet, I have about 9 weeks till Amageza and I intend to do everything in my power to be on that start line. I just hope they don't do any urine tests for painkillers! jokes aside I think I have a chance but will need to see how the next few weeks go. Don't want to be stupid and compound the injuries but at the same time I'm not going to give up on this without a fight. Time will tell.

I also got the quote for my bike repair, R49000, luckily insured but still waiting for approval. Fortunately I took the whole roadbook and ICO off the night before the ride so that's fine.
As luck would have it I have about 6-8 weeks to work on the bike so plenty time for that. And then at least 1 full week to get bike fit!
