Hi Dogs,
Had a nice chatty e-mail from Tom. Long story short - it is going very well, but he hasn't had any word yet about whether he's staying on Gough till September with the rest of the team. He is enjoying his time on Gough with the team, they are like family, with all the good and bad of family, including the problem child

He has more opportunity to hike these days, but unfortunately he often has to go alone as the team leader and other meteorologist, who enjoy hiking with him, aren't always available for hikes. However they were all able to hike together again recently. He enjoys the hikes but is experiencing some pain which prevents him from going out as much as he would like - knowing Tom, he is probably pushing himself too hard physically.
I think the rat/mouse eradication program is scheduled for this year some time, during the winter when there are less birds. It would be fascinating to have updates on how that is going, because they will have to cage some birds, and those that scavenge on the mice/rats will unfortunately also be affected by the proposed solution.
Some beautiful photo's for us to dream and drool over
