Just heard I did not make it into the SANAE voyage.

This is sadly the end of the line for my contract career with SANAP.  :'(

I need a break now. However promised my bf to look after her house and dogs while she is away with her family in Disney land.
Need to be there from next week and Wednesday.
I feel like a solo Sani trip and to make a turn at the blind girl in Winkelspruit. Visit them a few days and come back.
Can't help but yes I am sad...guess most dreams are just that. Dreams.
I came close.
Time to move on now.  :)

Please keep an ear for camp management/house keeping or relevant position
Thanks

Its cool Tom, sometimes dreams don't happen.  :thumleft:

Thanks all. I am packed and ready to leave at 4am for Underburg.
Plan to do Sani Wednesday morning and then back down all the way to Winkelspruit  (Toti)

Can unfortunately not do a long trip oom Vis, I gave my word to take care of my friends house and dogs till the 21st.
Will use that time to reflect and work on a plan to get work.

Will update hopefully with a Sani pick soon.

What do you do when someone come from behind and stop next to you while taking a picture and say; "Hi Tom"...and you think; who is this and how does he know my name?

Well...biggest surprise in a long time and what better place to have met Xpat for the first time!!!
After summiting we had a mokuti and lunch and good chat...thanks Martin, you became a mentor and the advice is best. Appreciate  :thumleft:

Also met Hinksding near the top and his friends...great meeting you guys!

Some proper  pics on camera which I need to post process at some time but here some cellphone image.
Dani is not easy anymore...I  was lucky not to have a spill and the NC did well given the correct line and not stall.

I did 700km to Sani, and then down to Winkelspruit
960km for the day
I slept like a baby!

I know next year will be a good year baas Kobus, I will get my ducks in a row.
I am over the SANAP thing now, will partake in the Antarctica legacy to some extended but the Islands are behind.
I trust and hope that the new generation will make a success.

My focus now is on housekeeping / camp management and I may do some SHE courses in the New year because that is an additional benefit in this field.
Good weekend to you all.

I have really enjoyed the Sani trip. It was just a quick one as I was in a bit of a hurry to get to the family in Winkelspruit.
As I was riding down I though it would have been great to have spent a bit more time talking to Martin and  maybe spent the night up there at the backpackers but I hope our paths will cross in due future on another adventure of sort.

Very glad I did push through though, since I had to cut my visit short when someone back here needed me. However; what really excites me was that last night I got a message from a friend for a lead on a project manager position in East Africa (very similar than the camp management positions I am used to)
That just shortly after I have decided to get organised and  focus on what I am good at.

So last night I got to work, and it was only in the morning hours that I was satisfied with my updated CV.
Maybe I should consider doing a ride report on the Sani trip, even though it was just a quicky?

Currently busy studying Swahili, it will help a lot for my future work plans in Africa

Had to take a break and went to buy oil for the bike for a service.
Was lucky, Midas running a special on Shell helix HX7 at R320 vat in for 5liter.
Baught 2 and now I  can do 3 x oil services
Just need to get 2 more oil filters  (got 1 for now)
Now I need to look after a friends house till 21st, and will use the time wise studying Swahili and more research on jobs relevant information.
Life is good  :)

I did not get the position in East Africa but have decided to keep on working on my Swahilli
It is one of the easier African language's because of the pronounsation which is phonetically similar to English  (you say it as you read it)
Lion King made use of many Swahili words and phrases.

I will keep looking and work to equip myself to step into the next job.

Still looking after the house in pta (more so the dogs) and enjoying it because the tv is connected to Wi-Fi and many Swahili lessons on YouTube and also watch a lot of 'around the world' blogs like this guy doing around the world on his African twin.
Wow....if money was not an issue I would have done just that!
Norway is the most beautiful country!! Don't know why the Vikings wanted to get away from it  :bueller:

Nice positive attitude Tom. And learning a language is challenging but keeps the brain young :imaposer:

Has that lady had opportunity yet to show you sports photography and how to set up a website to sell photo's?
