Awesome Tom! Well deserved.

I know its a bit of a sweet/sour moment but as you mentioned the sad reality is your struggling in SA to get work and here you have one interview and get a job. I wish you all the best for your second term of farming in the states and keep us updated  :thumleft:

Correct bud, with the option of going back to farmer no 1!
I see many SA farmers with way more experience and younger than me that do not get offers from agents, and here I got the luxury to choose. I have chosen the 'new' farmer because I feel that I'll take a step forward, they provide training and I wouldn't be restricted as much to truck driving, repairs and only silage harvesting or hauling manure.

Here it seems I'll spent most of my time working in the elevators and I am going to get as much hands on experience as possible.

I am now battling with a decision: should I renew my Health professions council registration for 2020/21 or not....it is (I  think) R1.1k now, and I cant see myself returning to Emergency medical services. I was thinking of an official de registration but someone told me if you fail to pay for 1 season they just remove you from the roll. Decisions  ???
Over 30 years in the EMS, failed to get employment in the EMS for close to 2 years so maybe the choice has already been made for me. Just sometimes hard to walk away.

The day I got my CDL I was so excited and happy, and in walked an older gentleman and the lady asked him what she can assist with. He came to hand in his CDL - convert to normal car drivers license.  He told her he has been battling with the decision for months but finally realized that he had his time, hence the move today.

That is in a way how I feel about my medical registration. You can't put it on ice either, no way to return once you have dropped deregistered.

Last night I asked on fb "Manne in Amerika" if someone works at farmers Cooperative; I could not yet locate anyone but got positive feedback. Apparently just very cold till end March but I'll be prepared.

My advice is to keep it alive!
Even if you have not used it, renew it as the money won't kill you, but it is a door that might just open in the future.

I agree with Oubones on this one, but at the end of the day the decision is yours to make.

Daai klere daar is gemaak vir daai toestande.

In which town will you reside?

I dont know yet, I know I'll go Dorchester Nebraska first to the HQ and from there to a small town in Northern Kansas.

Thanks everyone for all the comments  :thumleft:

Northern Kansas is also very cold till end of March Chris, or so I have been told but will update accordingly.

For now I'm keeping an eye on the emails to see when to drive through to Pta Dhl (closest office) to submit passport and documentation for the Visa.

I'll knit you a pair, Tom.  :imaposer:

I did one for Mr. Zog when he was in Lesotho, no joke. Ask him.

Maggie and Sammy say to tell you that you have to come and see us again because... snuggles. That's why.  :3some:

Mrs Z I'll pass on the 'knitted wear' simply because I'm afraid I'll have to give dimensions :peepwall: :peepwall: through

 :imaposer: :imaposer:

Yes I miss them doggies so much  :'( , they have crawled into my heart big time!!  :thumleft:

I seldom visit a tourist attraction twice but if I can find my way back there after the contract I will without a doubt visit Kennedy space centre again!! And Bass pro shop - albeit not a formal tourist attraction  :imaposer:  :imaposer:

The waiting game is killing me - yes I got the job but it takes so much time. I was already packed like for in finished Tuesday - yet have not received my final instructions and documentation to pay for visa and and go and post at DHL Pretoria to the embassy. Because I have been in the States last year on a H2A I don't need to go for another interview. Ai pok I would like to get it behind.....just like that final confirmation  :lol8:

I got quite  shock wrt travel insurance; just over R10K for 10 months but ok, one visit to the ER and it's more than worth the while. I just cant risk going without travel insurance at age 51, medical expenses in the States is very very high!

Anyway - good weekend to all of you and Mrs Z give them doggies a big hug from me!  :thumleft:
