Thanks guys  :thumleft:

My bakkie got repossessed  :imaposer: Something happened to another managers truck and my fancy ride was shortlived  :lol8:
Got my rusty GMC back, and she is just fine!
Luckily I'm not a big 'car man' and see a car or bakkie as transport.
I see a bike as a ride  8)
Another great working day, hauling dry fertilizer  :thumleft:

Yesterday I was hauling grain, and tonight they said I can use this much better 'Tractor' (Horse) to haul my dry fertiliser trailer tomorrow  8)
Happy as can be!!  That is one sweet truck, inside out  :)

The John Deer is brand new, we got her to do Anhydrous Ammonia for some farmers. When I got into her, there was still plastic on the seats and there is even a little fridge!

Tom, i just look with wonder at all those big boy toys you get to work with! Glad you enjoy it and so happy you got the contract for next year. I'll buy you a beer (or six) at a pub near you when you're back this side, so i can hear all the stories!  ;D

Today we were offloading dry fertiliser, and that is rather slow since fertiliser is heavy and it makes a lot of dust inside the storage facility.
I was given a crash course on how to run the little loco - it has got normal wheels and you drive it to the railway track, position yourself onto the line and lift the wheels and she will lower onto the track.
It was rather cool, a long but enjoyable Saturday!!  :thumleft:

Hunting season open now, You see hunters all over the show and various warnings of; 'no hunting' or other regulations.  :)

I had to make use of the 'sand on track' function for the first push yes, I  was struggling to get going when the manager told me to use the function. On the overhead 2 x buttons, one for front and rear wheel...I kid you not! Helped a lot!  :3some:

We used to have to use that on the old steam engines, I think it ran off their vacuum systems.  :thumleft:

Took this picture of the grain elevators this morning - not edited, just perfect light!

They have started to built the 1.2 million bushels cement tube, on the far left the foundation drill is visible on the picture.
That thing drills 84 feet deep holes, then they put steel reinforcement down and pump it full of cement.
There will be a total of 320 holes (underground pillars) on which the cement tube will be built.
Here I got new perspective on what 'big' means!
All our workers got each a turkey for free at the company, I will cook mine Thursday in the pellet grill for thanksgiving.
Will have enough meat for one week!!  :lol8:

Today I finally ran the grain train; 4 x diesel electric locos of 3500 Hp each - we ran 2 x units, roughly 1 and a quarter mile long - 110 grain cars.
Load 100ton corn per car.
It was an amazing experience, after a crash course and demonstrating the loading of about 20 cars we changed seats....pok I was now out of the conductor seat into the engineers seat and I will honestly say I was a bit nervous. However; all went well and I will treasure this memory.
The boss said he wanted me and my SA colleague to run the train once before we leave - and who knows; maybe I will get another change next year!
It was raining, literally bucketing down and after the train was loaded all of us had to walk around to seal the bottoms (the bottom traps - 3 on every car)
We we drenched, and the last 2 hours of the day was a bit challenging - wet and a bit cold but a long warm bath was the best remedy and a cold beer.
Tonight I'll hit the hay at least a hour earlier than usual  :lol8:
