Tom, I notice that you wear gum boots most of the time Is there a reason for this? I find them hell is uncomfortable.

That's nice to know. Did they tell the RAF pilots?

Today was again some maintenance work and then Santjie asked if we can start putting the rope ladder together since the admin may want to visit in a few weeks time. The fishing vessel will go to the North islands and transfer catch to another ship and then come back for more fishing. So we started off and then I told Santjie I should go and take the actual measurement of how long this ladder should be. We were just putting the 21st spar (or is it a rail?) In. So I went down and was shocked to see that it is 11 meters above water level which means we are 8 spars short. So we packed up and tomorrow after skivvi I need to split another plank to cut 8 more. However; the ladder is 3/4 of a way finished!

We are getting issued to hike with them and work as well Rodlau. They are not bad albeit a bit heavy with the steel caps. The Aussie ladies and some other field workers that came before had various nice type of hiking boots with gaters to make it water proof and protect against mud which they find comfy. I am happy with the gumboots though.

They say no news is good news but I sometimes wish something 'cool' will happen like a rare sighting of bird or dusky dolphins near the shore or even a visit from a yacht in need of calm waters to do repairs like we have seen with the 'Anna Margaretha' or 'Obelix' and other.

We are sweating currently on Gough and not only figure of speech; we are having some technical trouble and do whatever we can to make use of the current high pressure and warmth wrt maintenance work outside. It was really warm today, think about 24 degree Celsius and very humid. I was working in the brown store most of the afternoon and sweating big time.

Since I do not have any 'fresh pics' I thought to post some old pics of the Northern Rochopper babies from a few months ago. They are now fully fledged and have left the island. The adults are now going into the mould and soon the beaches will be all feathery and they will not look at their best till dressed in the new seasons fur!

Hello WD' Friends!

All good on Gough, and rather warm days now and like mentioned we do make use of the good weather days now to do as much maintenance outside as possible before the Winter which will be rain, cold (not very cold here in Winter) and stormy wind. King Neptune can get a bit excited here in the 'roaring 40's at times and I hope to bring you some good footage of high seas.

The following pics were taken by Santie and I have been bugging her for a while now to get it to me. I have just edited it a bit in lightroom but one can't do too much since it was shot in Jpeg. I am rather happy that these moments were captured especially with the 'Gough Bunting'!
